Relax people. I'm happy we lost. I hope AEK will become stronger and we have more opponents wwho can actually beat is in Greek league.

Look at these panicking people with 1 loss starting to develop conspiracy theories and blame everybody including the coach and some players. My god relax.

Olympiakos plays ugly basketball and most of 4th quarters eurocup/champions league basketball.Thats all season not something new.The good thing was that most of the games were somehow won at overtime or from missing buzzer of opponent team. Some games were won because the opponent was terrible (aris at cup) and yesterday the loss came.We should have lost to Real Madrid and most likely we will lose to bamberg because coach sfairo cant handle spanoulis and 4th quarter. Its a pitty because this team can do triple crown this year but we will take zero titles again thanks to coach sfairopoulos.I dont know what you see and believe that we are a good team.Everyone that watches basketball and that is not an Oly fan can clearly see that this team is having big problems despite nice record on EL..

9-2 record does point to big problems.

I think winning fewer than 25 of our first 11 games is a clear sign of failure.

Olympiacos fans - can you provide feedback on how Kyle Wiltjer is playing so far? From the boxscores, he doesn't seem to be doing much of anything, but his minutes played seems to be creeping up slowly to about 12-14 a game. Is this a slow methodical integration for him to learn the system before he gets a "green light" in the offense. His value is clearly on the offensive end (especially 3pt shooting) and it seem strange at this point to see him play 12-14 minutes without even a 3pt attempt.

I questioned if he could manage on the defensive end in EuroLeague - how bad (or maybe not bad) is it so far?

Great players, usually, don't know when the time has come to end their careers.

Basically he's playing more minutes because Papapetrou and Agravanis are injured, as well as Printezis at the moment. That leaves only him in the PF rotation and I think he will take more attempts under these circumstances but his minutes are not going to increase dramatically under Sfairopoulos.

Although it looks like he needs time to adapt in Euro basketball.

It's true he hasn't got many minutes (or shots which on paper is his strong point) but he generally seems like a weak add so far.
It's hard to believe he's 25, physically he wouldn't look out of place in a youth tournament. He's slow so that teams go to 1-4 pick and roll when he's in and he's quite weak defending at the post.
Even in the greek league against weaker teams he hasn't shown much.

If he could create his shot it would be something but so far he's mostly just waiting around the arc. Even if he got more shots and started hitting them, without more tools in offence or a better defensive presence it'll be hard to get more minutes.
There are many injuries in his position though so at least in the next few games he should get more chances to show whether he can contribute.

I have watched him for years in the NCAA. His 3pt shooting is a known skills - that should translate, but has the tools to score in the paint as well. He has good post up moves, great hands, soft touch, good passing instincts and even a fairly good old-school sky hook we'd see from time to time (I don't know how effective it was, but it was sure fun to see). However last year with the Rockets they seemed to want nothing to do with him inside the paint and asked him to stay out on the perimeter to be a catch and shoot 3pt specialist. Maybe he has been conditioned already that this is his role as a professional. I am not sure if his inside game is good enough to be usable in the EuroLeague, but it was near elite in in the NCAA.

He has always looked slow, weak, wooden and a liability on defense. But not as horrible a rebounder and paint defender as he initially looks. He is a fairly high IQ player as well.

I didn't think he had much of a shot at the NBA, even as a very unique, very limited role player. In the NBA I don't see how they wouldn't PnR him to death every chance they got.

I was hoping he'd at least be able to show an excellent offensive game in Europe. He was very good during his time in the G-League last year, but it is always difficult to know what level that can translate to.

Hopefully he can carve out a meaningful role for Oly. I think it is in him, but I questioned if he should have started with a lower level team to get a feel for the game first.

well, even thompson who is a much better player seems to suffer, yesterday he was awful, roberts isn't so brilliant too till now. Wiltjer is the last of the problems, in my opinion the priority is to integrate the other two.

sferopoulos has been able till now to obtain the 110% of the european player's potential and therefore he has reached an excellent euroleague record, but americans don't seem to be fully integrated. Nothing new, the same story takes place almost every year.

I don't think Sfairopoulos is a good offensive coach but what exactly is he doing that's making Strelnieks' shots go in and Thompson's shots go out?

It's not like Thompson is asked to shoot bailout 3s. He should be doing better with the looks he's getting.

Very bad so far, in both ends. In Euroleague he has 0/4 3pt attempts and his aggregate PIR is negative. Stupid fouling in defense, not enough confidence in offense. But it is not surprising for his first games in Europe and the fans don't judge him harshly. I don't have many expectations for him, but I would like to see him shoot better. Like others have said, even NBAers like Roberts and Thompson are underperforming so I don't really blame him.

And....Kyle Wiltjer is starting today against CSKA? Any of you see that coming? I am curious to hear all your thoughts on how this happened and how he played (are the injuries at PF that bad?)

Wiltjer is the only power forward standing, Papapetrou, a sf, will get the rest of the minutes.

Printezis, Tillie and Agravanis are all injured atm. Other than that he did ok and hit some good shots. Work needs to be done on defence though.

I think his contribution is positive right now.
