Ceres Negros FC again makes history as they advance in the ASEAN Zonals of the AFC Cup when they beat Singapore's Home United FC in Panaad.

No Philippine Football Club has ever reached this far before. The game was good, with both teams getting good chances at the goal, but with the home team eventually winning it.

It was a great game, I thoroughly enjoyed it, but the one thing I didn't like about it was this Fernando Rodriguez playing very badly for Ceres. First is that he missed a Penalty shot, and then missed a one on one with the Goalkeeper.

To me that performance is highly suspect, and if I were the owner I would make sure he is out of the club by next season.

The "Pinoy Football Super Tuesday" turned out to be a disaster as all three Philippine team lost their games. Ceres-Negros FC got routed by FC Istiklol, a club whose name sounds like a meme.

And to think that Tajikistan is not supposed to be that strong, ranked only 150th in the world by FIFA while we are ranked 127th. Anyway, Ceres now has the very tough task of scoring at least five goals while keeping Istiklol scoreless in Panaad to advance.

I won't say it won't happen, but it is very unlikely, and I think Ceres will just have to settle for a win a home .

Ceres-Negros FC could only settle for a Draw in Panaad, knocking them out of the Inter-Zone Semi-Finals of the 2017 AFC Cup.

It was sort of disappointing, but Ceres has reached a level where no other Philippine Club has reached before, so that is a bit of a consolation.

From the game, Istiklol was the more confident one, with the more dangerous chances although Ceres did make a couple of good tries at the goal, too.

if they played the same way in the 1st leg, it would've been a different result in 2nd leg.. ceres might have eliminated istiklol..

Hard to say. As you advance to the AFC Cup, the opponents get tougher also. Ceres was the ASEAN Zone Champion, then now they have to face a tough Central Asian team. Football is big in Central Asia, and since they are near Europe they are very competitive also.

Global-Cebu FC reaches the finals of the 2017 RHB Singapore Cup after beating Singapore's Hougang United FC!!!

Darryl Roberts has been fantastic up front scoring three goals in two games for Global, but among the locals, Paolo Salenga has been outstanding combining with Roberts on offense.

He has contributed at least two assists in my count in Global's two games against Hougang, and if he's not with the Azkals yet, then he probably should be. Patrick Deyto at goal has made some great saves in this game also as we can see, tremendously helping Global's cause in the RHB Singapore Cup.

                          Singapore Cup Final in Jeopardy

The RHB Singapore Cup Final has often been the finale to the S.League season - encapsulating the romance of a cup competition where minnows have a shot against the big guns - and the last match on the local football calendar.

But this Saturday's final between Albirex Niigata and Global Cebu may not even take place.

The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is planning an extravaganza to close what has been an uncertain 2017, but the Philippine side may not even show up in Singapore.

Sources revealed that Global players are still owed wages, some of them for up to six months, and players are refusing to get on the plane if they are not paid at least a month of what is owed to them.

Speaking to The New Paper, Global captain Misagh Bahadoran confirmed that a cloud is indeed hanging over the club, but is something that can be surmounted.

"This year we are going through a difficult time. There are just two players owed six months' salary, most of us are owed between four and five months' (wages)," said the Philippines international.

"But I don't think the management will let that (boycott of the Singapore Cup final) happen.

Football: No Global Boycott of Singapore Cup Final After Wage Issues Resolved

The RHB Singapore Cup final between S-League champions Albirex Niigata and Philippine outfit Global Cebu at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Saturday (Nov 25) will go on as planned after Global players decided not to go on strike.

The finale of the local football season had been thrown into disarray earlier on Wednesday (Nov 22) after Global players threatened not to get on the plane to Singapore unless wage issues were resolved. Sources had revealed that Global players were owed their salaries, some of them for up to six months.

But after a players' meeting with the club's management later in the day, Global captain Misagh Bahadoran said that the issues have been ironed out.

"This was a misunderstanding between the club and the players, and I'm glad to say the problem has been fixed and we will be flying to Singapore tomorrow," said Bahadoran, declining to reveal details of the solution.

Looking forward to the final, Bahadoran believes Global have enough quality to deny Albirex a clean sweep of all four domestic titles on Saturday.

Minegishi Leaves Global Cebu for Pattaya United

ON DECEMBER 22, 2017 FOOTBALL TIMES

Filipino-Japanese midfielder Hikaru Minegishi has left Global Cebu FC for Thai club Pattaya United FC while Filipino-German goalkeeper Roland Muller has announced he’s leaving Ceres Negros FC to devote more time to his family.

“I decided to play in Thai League 1. I did sign with Pattaya United. This club has a good history. I’ll give all my energy and passion (to this team) from now on,” Minegishi announced through a Facebook post on Thursday.

Pattaya earlier posted on Facebook that it signed Minegishi as its last import player, meeting the Asean quota for the next season of Thailand’s top-tier league.

After a brief stint with the renowned Urawa Red Diamonds and a collegiate career at Sendai University in Japan, Minegishi joined Global in 2015 and stayed with the Cebu-based club for nearly three years.

The 26-year old booter received his first Azkals call-up last year for the Asean Football Federation Suzuki Cup and has since been a regular player on Thomas Dooley’s roster.

Minegishi played a key role in Global’s runner-up finish in the inaugural season of the Philippines Football League.
