Perlas will be re-tooled for this year's SEA Games with the recruitment of several high caliber Fil-Am girls into the team. It appears that the SEA games will not be subject to FINA rules on eligibility and as such, Fil-Ams with Philippine passports will be allowed to play as locals.

Coach Pat flew stateside to bring in UCLA's Kelli Hayes, the Molina siblings of Washington State, Chanelle and Cherilyn plus Arizona State's Arnecia Hawkins. Apart from the 5x5 team, I suspect these filams may well also form a second 3x3 team for Perlas.

Aquino has a number of other Fil-Am players in his radar, including Arnecia Hawkins of Arizona State, Mei-Lyn Bautista of George Washington and Gabe Bade of Sacramento State.

“Malapit ng maayos ang passport ni Hawkins. I believe she can make it to the SEA Games. Gabe Bade is a natural-born Filipina but she can’t come over in December (for the SEAG) because the US collegiate play is ongoing then,” said Aquino.

Gabe Bade is daughter of former San Sebastian Stag and Formula Shell player Cris

I'm hoping that we could snatch that elusive Gold this coming SEA Games and jumpstart a new atmosphere in Women Basketball.

Good win! Hungary is ranked a few spots lower than us. Looks like we have more size than ever before. Hayes is obviously #20 and Jackie Animam #13, but who's #34(she had a nice post turn-around shot), #18, #15, #14, they all look like at least 6 feet in height?

It wasn't the Hungary NT that Perlas faced, but a college team from the said country.

Another looker, but not in the PHL NT is Aris Dimaunahan's daughter, Christiana. I think she plays for NU... i dunno if HS or College, or if Team A, B or C, Considering NU's Women's team is deeeeep.

Gilas Pilipinas showed no mercy in destroying Samoa, 21-1, to kick start its campaign in the 2019 FIBA 3X3 Asia Cup Wednesday. Veterans Afril Bernardino, Janine Pontejos, Jack Danielle Animam and Clare Castro were too much for the teenagers from the tiny archipelago in the Pacific Ocean. READ MORE
