The Barotac Nuevo Football Pitch is being rehabilitated, I hope they put an Artificial Turf there. More durable and easier to maintain, it is about time that Negros has one.

Notice how the scores are a lot higher when the UAAP teams play at an excellent Artificial Pitch like the one they have at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

I hope "Arr-neow" could install at least one Artificial Pitch also there at Loyola since the games there are televised.

They could move the televised games at the RMS, but likely not as many fans will be there during the regular season.

CCSC Football Field Will be Ready

        By: Glendale G. Rosal, June 22nd, 2017 10:52 PM

The Cebu Football Association (CFA) is doubling its efforts to finish the rehabilitation of the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) football pitch in time for the first home game of Global Cebu FC in the Philippines Football League (PFL) against Ceres Negros FC on July 5.

CFA’s Rodney Orale said they are poised to finish the rehabilitation on time. He said the field is now completely covered with grass after a month of giving it proper care and maintenance. He added that they are now in the process of leveling the pitch.

“We are in the final stages of preparing the pitch. We will start leveling the pitch so that we can flatten any mounds and hollow areas. It’s been a long time since we rehabilitated this pitch. The last time was when the Azkals faced Malaysia for a friendly match so it really took a lot of hard work for us to prepare the pitch,” Orale said.

The Azkals-Malaysia friendly game was held last April 2014.

The Ceres Negros FC team is complaining about the pitch there in Cebu, which is a pity. For a major city like Cebu, how come there is only one pitch? And a problematic one, at that since it was also being used for other events.

Cebu should have a world class artificial pitch. I mean, they have a lot of rich families there, they should pitch in something for the city also. Something substantial, and will be a legacy landmark.

Ceres not Pleased with ‘Dangerous’ Field After Loss to Global Cebu

'I think even the Global players are embarrassed to play on a field like this,' says Ceres captain Martin Steuble

          Published 10:09 AM, July 06, 2017

CEBU CITY, Philippines - The Global Cebu FC edged Ceres-Negros FC, 1-0, before more than 5,000 spectators who flocked to the Cebu City Sports Center to watch Global’s first home game in the ongoing inaugural tournament of the Philippines Football League (PFL).

Matthew Hartmann scored on a volley right outside the penalty box in the 42nd minute of the match on a pass from Amani Aguinaldo, who picked up the ball when it was tapped to the left by Ceres goalkeeper Louie Michael Casas coming from a corner taken by Sasaki Shu.

The man of the match, however, was Global’s goalkeeper Patrick Deyto, who despite limping on the pitch after an aggressive encounter against Manny Ott that left him lying on the pitch for several minutes, stayed on and did not concede any goals.

“Obviously we’re very happy with the clean sheets, it’s been awhile since we had a clean sheet, we’ve been conceding goals lately in the past few games but today we were able to hold on to the last few and we always say that if you don’t concede goals you have a big chance of winning the game," said Deyto.

According to Deyto, he wanted to get off the pitch because he had fallen ill but they did not have a reserved goalkeeper.

Deyto might sit out this Sunday’s game against Stallion Laguna FC to have his left knee scanned.

Global head coach Marjo Allado said that they’re planning to rest Deyto for Sunday’s game.

Deyto was kept busy especially in the second half when Global opted to protect their lone goal and Ceres was given all the chances to attack.

The win allowed Global to close in on second place which is being held by JPV Marikina FC which has 18 points. Global now has 17 points and stays in third place while Ceres drops to fifth place behind Kaya FC-Makati which now has 14 points after outsmarting Stallion Laguna FC, 3-1, in the earlier game of the PFL held at Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna.

“Our target is to win all our games here in Cebu. This is for the fans, not only for Global. But this first game is very important, we’re playing a strong team with quality players so of course the character of Global is not to give up and always win because we beat Ceres many times in Manila also so we don’t want to lose in front of our home crowd,” said Allado.

It wasn’t a good night for Ceres as not only was their goalkeeper, Roland Muller, sent out, but their head coach Risto Vidakovic was also ejected from the game. Muller was given a red card for kicking Sekou Sylla even though he didn’t have ball possession in the first half. In the second half, Vidakovic was sent out for mouthing off to the linesman when Fernando Rodriguez Ortega was called for an offside.

          Bad pitch

Ceres captain Martin Steuble said that their performance was affected by the condition of the football field which they described as uneven and dangerous for players.

“I think that in both teams there’s so many gifted players, so many talented players but if you let us play on a pitch like this, this is the best we can do,” said Steuble. “I think that we’re building the PFL, and then letting us play on a pitch like this it’s not productive, it’s going against the flow. I think even the Global players are embarrassed to play on a field like this.

“My opinion, games shouldn’t be allowed on this pitch.”

Allado, however, said Global was focusing on the game instead of the field.

I agree, the rich families, local government or private businesses there in Cebu needs to make this happen.

Cebu has always been touted as one of the major cities in the Philippines, it would be shame to consider them that and yet only have one FIFA grade Football Pitch in the entire city ...

Biantan: When Will Cebu Get a Decent Football Pitch?

Saturday, July 08, 2017 By JACK BIANTAN
            BIG JACK

CEBU City needs a decent football field or a football stadium to host the Global Cebu FC in the Philippine Football League.

This is to stop all the complaints from Global Cebu opponents just like Ceres Negros FC coach Risto Vidakovic and team manager James Dinsay before and after their match last Wednesday at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

For several months, the CCSC has been guarded and trimmed by the Cebu Football Association (CFA) just to be ready for the Wednesday match.

My former team captain at the University of San Carlos (USC) Golden Booters Dino Musni was the key man of the CFA in the field preparation for the PFL match.

That's kinda odd, it seems that they play football in CESAFI, but they only use one pitch for the games? Do the individual schools have their own football fields, na pwede ipahiram sa Global FC?

Well there are lot of Football fields in Cebu ... But so far only one that meets the FIFA standard.

So there are two options as far as Cebu is concerned: Either build a new one that meets the FIFA standard, or upgrade the existing ones to meet the FIFA standard.

Upgrading may or may not be feasible for some pitches, they may not have the available space for the upgrade, for example. So it is better to just build a new one so they can meet and even exceed the FIFA standard is needed.

MJC Opens FIFA Football Turf at SLLBP

                    (The Philippine Star) | Updated September 10, 2017 - 12:00am

MANILA, Philippines — Manila Jockey Club, Inc. (MJC), one of Asia’s oldest, and the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) yesterday hosted the inauguration and turnover ceremonies of the FIFA Football Turf Project 7 at the San Lazaro Leisure & Business Park (SLLBP) in Carmona, Cavite.

The FIFA Football Turf Project inauguration along with the PFF House of Football and National Football Center groundbreaking ceremonies coincide with Manila Jockey Club’s 150th Anniversary celebration this year.

Its partnership with the PFF pays tribute to its heritage as one of the earliest football clubs in the country. In the early 1900s, MJC had its own football club formed after the Philippine-American War which competed with local teams such as the Manila Sporting Club, Paris Club, Sandow Athletic Club and the Bohemian Sporting Club.

RE: Philippine Artificial Football Pitch Inequality

Time to speak more frankly about the status of Philippine Football, now that the main commercial league the Philippines Football League (PFL) going down from eight to just six teams, and currently hounded by a lot of administrative and seemingly funding related problems.

For this one, let us talk about the seeming inequality of Artificial Football Pitches in the country. The Rizal Memorial Stadium (RMS) has a gorgeous Artificial Pitch, it is beautiful and many Football observers from the provinces who have seen it marvel at it once they see it in person. I was lucky enough to have seen it a couple of times, and it really a sight to behold.

However, the RMS is plagued with the issue of having not enough spectators to watch the games. It seems that the RMS only gets good attendances during occasional Azkals games, or during the Collegiate Football Championships if they are held there.

On the other hand, you go to no doubt is the Capital of Football in the Philippines, the Panaad Football Stadium in Negros and it is NOT an Artificial Pitch. Another example is Cebu which, despite one of the major cities in the Philippines, could only come up with one FIFA certified Football Pitch which also is used for many other activities which ruins its surface every now and then.

Which is quite a shame since both Panaad and Cebu are able to pull in a lot more spectators or audience than Manila on a regular basis. So, why is it that the cities where Football is very popular don't have Artificial Pitches while cities where Football is not so popular end up having great Artificial Pitches?

In fact, if you map all the of the Artificial Pitches in the country, they are concentrated in Luzon. Around two dozen such Pitches, and none of them are outside of Luzon. So why is this so in Philippine Football? Why are the great Pitches concentrated in an area where it can't get much spectators while in areas where are many spectators, they have mediocre Pitches?

The situation is so strange to me that everything is reversed, the areas don't end up getting the Pitches that they deserve. In an ideal world, the RMS should be getting the mediocre Pitches while Panaad, Cebu and even Davao should have gotten the best Artificial Pitches in the country where they will be much better appreciated.

Most of the Artificial Pitches in Luzon belong to Private Schools like FEU, De La Salle, etc. and yet major cities in the provinces can't even get them? The situation just seems so strange and unfair to me at this point. I hope it eventually changes, and changes soon.

PFF Wants New Home in Cavite

posted July 23, 2018 at 08:35 pm by Peter Atencio

A parcel of land within the San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite could someday serve as the new home of the Philippine Football Federation’s headquarters and national training center.

PFF president Mariano “Nonong” Araneta said they have plans of purchase a 3,000 sqm parcel of land within the area and build a complex with dormitories, classrooms for coaching and referee courses, and a gym.

“The funds are ready, initially we will be getting US$1.5 Million from FIFA,” said Araneta in a statement. He said they have plans of selling their present building in Pasig to help fund the move.

Another option is available, and that is to buy a different 2,000 sqm plot of land beside the artificial pitch that is separate from the 3,000 sqm parcel of land.
