    TOP ROOKIE RUBIO

Ricky Rubio collected honours in Europe as if it were his hobby.

Already he has an award in the NBA after being named the Western Conference Rookie of the Month for January.

The 21-year-old, a three-time FIBA Europe Young Player of the Year, is playing with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Among NBA rookies, the former Joventut Badalona and Regal Barcelona guard ranks first in assists (8.9apg) and steals (2.24spg) and is fifth in scoring (11.4ppg).

A member of the Spain teams that won EuroBasket gold in 2009 and 2011, Rubio was worth the price of admission in four games in particular in January.

At Washington on the 8th, he scored 13 points, dished out 14 assists and corralled six rebounds in a 93-72 win over the Wizards.

Six days later at Atlanta, Rubio had 18 points and 12 assists in a 93-91 defeat to the Hawks.

At the defending NBA champions Dallas Mavericks 11 days later, Rubio had 17 points, 12 assists, seven boards and four steals in a 105-90 T-Wolves victory.

Then against Tony Parker and the San Antonio Spurs on the 27th, Rubio poured in 18 points, handed out 10 assists and came down with four rebounds in an 87-79 Minnesota triumph.

His six steals in a game against the Detroit Pistons on the 18th also raised eyebrows because it was the highest total for a Minnesota player since Kevin Garnett's seven steals in a game five years ago against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Rubio should be nicknamed: "El Fenomeno".

    He's simply amazing and entertaining.

Who would have thought that this young lad who was one of the youngest ever players to ever play a professional game would make an easy transition to the NBA.

Some Euros have played very well in the past for their national team and some have played very well against Team USA such as Lithuania's Šarūnas Jasikevičius who annihilated USA teams in the Sydney and Athens Olympics but were not able to make the transition across the Atlantic.

The T-Wolves have such a bright future with an incredible dynamic duo for the future. However, like NBA Analyst: Rick Kamla, I too am wondering why didn't the T-Wolves sing K-Love for the maximum term of 5 years. The big fella definitely wanted that however, the T-Wolves offered the 3 years with the last year as an option.

    greatest basketball genius says this:

"Basketball hasn't been the same since MJ, Maybe Ricky Can Change It" - Larry Bird
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Says game Game kinda turned into more isolation on one side and 4 players on the other since Michael Jordan. Thinks Rubio can bring some of team basketball back to the NBA. Calls Rubio "one of the best passers that he has ever seen."

Timberwolves' Rubio out for season with torn ACL

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...acl/index.html

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio will miss the rest of the season after an MRI revealed a torn ACL in his left knee, a league source told SI.com on Saturday.

Rubio was injured in the closing seconds of Minnesota's 105-102 loss to the Lakers on Friday night.

The expected six-to-nine month recovery time means Rubio will not only miss the rest of the season but will most likely be unable to suit up for Spain in the Olympics this summer.

Rubio, 21, the fifth pick in the 2009 draft, was enjoying a stellar rookie season with Minnesota, averaging 10.6 points and 8.2 assists.

Led by Rubio and All-Star forward Kevin Love, the Timberwolves (21-20) were just a half game out of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference and on pace for the franchise's first winning season since 2004-2005.

Black Mamba strikes! I remember Rubio telling Kobe that he and Team USA will get silver medals in the London Olympics.

A shame really. I was eager to see Rubio playing for the national team against USA with his NBA experience in tow.

Some are saying Kobe did this more or less on purpose. What do you think?

I can't stand Kobe but there is no way he did this on purpose. I think the video speaks for itself. Plus, why would Kobe have malicious intent towards Rubio? Every one seems to like the kid.

And please I hope no one says because Kobe wants to knock Rubio out of the Olympics.............that's just silly.

    You could see it coming. Rubio's first triple-double: 21 points + 12 assists + 13 rebounds.
    The Wolves beat the Spurs.

Thumbs up Ricky Rubio Takes On Manila

TAGUIG CITY – After witnessing how rabid were the Filipino fans during the FIBA World Cup held in his home country of Spain last year, Ricky Rubio could not wait to visit the Philippines. The Minnesota Timberwolves star guard finally got his chance when adidas flew him in for the Take On Manila Tour. READ MORE

Does Rubio finally learned how to shoot? He's amazing at the moment. Hopefully he'll finally start playing up to his true potential. In my opinion he has been so much unlucky with his NBA career thus far...as a 16-18yo he looked like from other planet...

34 and 29 points games as of late...he's nailing his jumpers as well.
