  • Basketball Training Aid

Hi! It’s my first time to join in community forums and I think I’d get so much help from your feedback… My name is Bill and I’m from Garden City, NY – married with 2 kids, 10 and 8. I want them to start training basketball this early on and I’m thinking about getting some training equipments for them. Came across IC3 BASKETBALL SHOT TRAINER at https://sportsmechanic.com/product/ic3shot-traine/. Anyone here familiar with this and any feedback? Thanks!

getting them into training this early will be really great for them! Along with the right equipment, it is important to get them to train using the right exercises. I am a big fan of body weight exercises because these types of exercises make you quicker off your feet. I can link to an article that will help your boys, these workouts do not require weights so there is no risk of stunting growth https://basketballmentality.com/how-...tball-in-2020/
        Hope this helps!

Great job getting a head start with basketball training, it'll definitely prove beneficial later on when they begin to train more intensely. I'd probably stick to straight bodyweight exercises when doing workouts, though some weight training thrown in the mix couldn't hurt as long as proper form is used and a partner is watching at all times. For basketball training, stick to and practice the fundamentals, this includes perfecting your shot (here is a good read on that) and getting comfortable with common dribbling techniques like crossovers and pullbacks, which are extremely beneficial when it comes to moving around the court (this page has a few dribbling drills you could use).

Getting down the fundamentals will help a ton in-game, and particularly with developing your ball handling it'll make it much easier when transitioning to harder practice drills that include sprints, directional changes, and a guard.

A ball, a net and a lot of practice. A lot of the gimmicky things companies sell seem to always be kind of shit

Basketball is a simple game, it doesn't require any equipment other than a hoop, a ball and a flat court. Even two players can play and have fun with basketball.
