this thread is needed, otherwise the one in euro-discussion forum, will get spammed with slovenian NT discussion constantly

    first friendly:
    Selekcija Primorske - Slovenija U20 74 : 86
    Slovenija: Perko 2, Preldžić 4, Krišto 10, Ja. Močnik 6, Klobučar 21, Mlakar 5, Horvat, K. Lorbek 2, Koštomaj 4, Krušič 6, Grušovnik 2, Brčina, Globovnik, Ptičak 3, Vidmar 19.

don't really know how good was that selection, but the team just finished physical preparations, so the result is practically useless.

I don't understand what is between Alilovič and Peter Marčič (Zaragoza, LEB), Peter deserves a place in U20 by opinion of everyone I've asked in the past weeks and yet while Alilovič called up Krišto, he forgot about Marčič again.

Peter Marčič (188cm, 1988) is a point guard and on point guard I think there is a lot of competition going on with Perko, Močnik and Koštomaj fighting for the starting point guard.

Second they will play with Quatar and Finland selections on Tuesday and Wednesday in Kranjska Gora (Slovenia) after this they are going to this tournament in Italy and then to FYROM also to some U20 friendly tournament.

I know... but Perko wasn't all that good with Triglav I personally doubt he'll make some good pro-career, Močnik is the same type, small&fast those kind of PG's are rather unussuall for slovenian bball (there are Močnik, Savič or Čmer and neither seems to be having much succes) and now we've got two of them on PG?- just a thought.
Besides Koštomaj, Mlakar could step up for a few minutes on PG as well so I know PG spot is filled, but some people are higher on Marčič, than PG's Alilovič selected (with exception of Koštomaj).

and in that article you can clearly see what hyping a player means everybody are talking about Preldžič and noone ever heard the name Vidmar

So true... from what I have seen this year from both of them I can easily say Vidmar has clearly more tools to be successfull player in the future. I think he will be one of the most dominant players of EC U20 this year. I just hope he won't do any stupid mistakes as leaving Slovan for some Italian or Spanish team which will loan him or put him in the second team. In my opinion he should stay at least one more year in Slovan in order to play Adriatic League and develop consistency on such level. After that the next step should be an Euroleague team which can guareente him decent playing time.

lost the game vs. Qatar senior team

          Slovenia U20 - Qatar 86:93 (24:15, 21:23, 19:27, 22:28)

          Perko 4, Preldžić 17, Krišto 5, Močnik 5, Klobučar 19, Mlakar 19, Koštomaj, Krušič 1, Grušovnik 1, Brčina, Ptičak, Vidmar 15, Markič

Vidmar fouled out in 25th minutes which enabled Qatar to get 11 offensive rebounds (Krušič!?! what was that ) after that. Alilovič said he is satisfied with the game vs. physical superior players and progress is seen compared to the first friendly game.

              Slovenia U20 : Russia U20 - 77:85

              Slovenia U20: Preldžić 5, Ja. Močnik 13, Klobučar 25, Mlakar 15, Koštomaj 2, Vidmar 17.

It's still three weeks untill the EC, no need to panic. Slovenia U20 played without ill Klemen Lorbek and injured Dejan Čigoja. Emir Preldžić still isn't in normal shape after the injury.

Today they are playing vs. USA selection, and on Sunday vs. Italy U20. After this tournament in Italy they will attend another one in FYROM where they will face FYROM U20, Bulgaria U20 and Montenegro U20 national teams.

There is still more than enough time to prepare for the EC.

no needed for panic at all. afterall it's Russia U20 we're talking about.

anyway eventhough there are only preparation games so far, I kind of expected some bigger contribution from the bench especially by guys like Koštomaj, Krušič... I really thought bench shouldn't be the problem this year, hopefully it won't end up that way.

                  Hey guys,

Im coming this year to the u20 EC's and was wondering if anyone has any advice. It will be my first time ever in Europe and I am pretty excited about the event.

How close are Nova Gorica and Goriza?

                  Are they easily accesible?

What are the details on getting tickets?

Anything else would be highly appreciated!

First of all, you are probably somekind of related to some press, so I advice you to get the press accreditation here.

Nova Gorica (Slovenia) is located nearby Gorizia (Italy), as you can see from this map.

                    Some additional informations

both were almost as Berlin, seperated with the wall... wall is gone now, i don't know about the border patrol regime there, when I was there noone asked anything, but I think it could be handy to have the passport along all the time since you'll probably be crossing border all the time

It used to be only Gorica untill the end of WW2, but than Gorizia was determined to stay italian without their natural background and slovenian communists decided to build a new city, eastern to the old one.

Anything else would be highly appreciated!
my guess i that slovenian U20 game tickets won't be available (they're playing in some 1100 seated arena), while the games on italian side will take place in 5000 seated arena.

Thanks for the information. Is the Slovenian Federation pretty friendly about distributing the credentials?

Do you say that Slovenian team will play all their games in the Slovenian gym and all other games will be played in the Italian gym, or will be games just be selected at random?

How far are these 2 cities?

they can't be far from each other since it's practically the same city, west being italian and east slovenian, pink line on the map is the border...

Do you say that Slovenian team will play all their games in the Slovenian gym and all other games will be played in the Italian gym, or will be games just be selected at random?
i'd expect the opposite, since slovenian federation is the organiser...

                            Italia : Slovenia 59:55 (24:19, 14:16, 8:8, 13:12)

                            Preldžić 4, Krišto 5, Klobučar 14, Mlakar 12, Čigoja 2, Krušič 4, Vidmar 14.

Čigoja played after few games and Alilovič was reportedly satisfied with him on PF. He whined a bit about the referees, said that the team looked a bit tired in the offense since the morning practices are supposedly hard-core compared to their competitors.

It'll be interesting to see how this team will react to home court advantage at the championship. With all the talent, Preldžič and Čigoja (hopefully) getting in shape in time and some bench players as Koštomaj, Krišto, Krušič and Mlakar contributing this team could be one of the rare ones to actually chalenge Serbia for the gold (considering I doubt Turkey would come complete and some teams have some of their important 88' class players missing). It'll be the first time they'll face some expectations from the media here though...

                              Ptičak 3, Preldžić 8, Krišto 8, Močnik 13, Klobučar 9, Mlakar 14, Markič 2, Grušovnik 2, Čigoja 11, Brčina 2, Vidmar 20.

Don't know what kind of US selection was that though.
Alilovič will shorten the list to 14 players after the result of Koštomaj's medical exam.
