Eurovision Song Contest 2006

A bit too late, but still making a thread. Any Eurovision fans here?

So what do you think about this year's event. Do you agree with choice of the winner (Lordi from Finland) or maybe true winners should have won (LT United from Lithuania)?

Well, Lithuania was pumping about it after semifinal when LT United made it. Simply because we finished last in 2005, so it was already achievement to get into final. 6th place was also met as great result (best ever before was 13th 7 or so years ago) with almost all countries giving at least some points and of course Ireland giving the maximum 12

I think Lithuanian song totally sucked and Lordi was my favorite one, so I'm happy that they won. :P Overall I don't care about Eurovision too much.

I don’t think Finland winning the competition was such a huge surprise, it was inevitability..... People are simply tired of what the Eurovision has become - barbie gathering and underwear show, with all those bla bla bla songs about love.....boring.

I considered Lithuanian entry as a joke, it was not a real song after all, I am surprised that they got such a high place.

I liked Bosnian song, nice music, nice voice and they looked good in the scene. I think they deserved 2 nd place.

Croatian entry...haahaha, i wonder how many surgeries she had on her face. Song named - Moja Stichla (eng. My high heels), usually when people get drunk they start singing such kind of songs.....

France - hundreds of years will pass but French taste for music will never change, usual French song, singer was scared to death, she did not move, she was out of tune most of the time, it is pure luck that they received several points.

Greece - is it true that her dress costs 40 000 euros???? Cheezus. I think Greek voters were really confused this year, cause there was no Cyprus on the competition so they did not know to whom to give 12 points.

Israel - i presume the band was from US ?

Norway - nice.

Spain - one hit band, nothing to say here. They looked really weak.

Switzerland - somehow i was reminded about Michael Jackson song “You are not alone”. Anyway, nice, but forgettable

Ukraine - nice girl, good voice, she was very confident on the scene

Turkey - her designer sucks.

Germany - wtf was that ? Cowboy hats, country music ? oh well.....


Latvia - i liked the idea with the robot, great voices.

Russia - simple song, they got a lot of votes from former USSR, apart from that nothing special. Is he gay btw ?

Monaco - ha ha ha ha, nothing to say - the worst song in my opinion.

it totally sucked, as always. it was camp, gay and tasteless, - as it should be.

the only enjyable acts were Lithuanian, Icelandic and Finish. BTW, I didn't like the Finish act, but at least it was.. well,.. you saw it. i would have liked to see Bosnians win. Lithuania finishing second would be nice too... and Russian singer falling from the stage and breaking his head would have not hurt matters either.. and they could also skip the Turkish performance as it would hardly influence their result..

overall Lithuanians did the best job possible, imho. I've been saying from the very begining that this is the best entry Lithuania ever had. and the actual performance was the most proffesional performance out of all countries there were, imho. Thanks must go to Mamontovas, who once again proved his tallent is limitless. if he was British, Bono and Sting would wear teeshirts with his name during their concerts.

it's hard to tell when will we be able to repeat this result. the image of Lithuania has jumped by one point (don't ask..) after this year's Eurovision.

I only watched the grading section and the Finnish band, who performed their song for the second time, and I liked it, though they seemed to have participated just to tease the Eurovision.

Turkish song was terrible of course, I couldn't bear listening that before the event.

Absolutely! Germany, the Netherlands, France (that is hilarious ), Switzerland giving Turkey any points, let alone 12 points, could only be joke if those expatriates were not there. I think they collected 91 points, at least 60 of which would be given regardless of whatever the Turkish performer would sing, or not sing at all...

Besides, everyone was distributing the best points to their neighbors or allies... obsolete, meaningless competition..

Well, as I hate the representative of Russia as a singer (Dima Bilan who is not a gay actually but has no singer's talent at the same time), I was not happy that he obtained the 2nd place. Finland - hmmm, rock presentation looked a little bit unusual at the pop songs festival, but it was the richest presentaion among all of them. So - could we let Finland cover all costs spent on that presentation by received prize and a bit of glory? OK, God with them, amen. I waited more from the German group as I really like country music, and German presentation seemed to be too boring... Frankly those three were all whom I've seen, so I cannot be an objective judge.
