    Anwil without stars

Ales Pipan who re-sign contract with Anwil, is now in Slovenia where think about NT for Spain 2007. He think also about Anwil, but here are little problems. Team didnt have moneys for Otis Hill and Goran Jagodnik - both players want earn more than in last season. Hill want teams from Spain, so he can more wait. Club probably in next week will sign contract with new player(s) - also with Andrzej Pluta, who said that he want end his career in Wloclawek.

    Germany Welcome To .

Here are the rules for polish/foreigner players for 2007/2008: minimum 4 polish players in match roster, 1 polish players always play and there is no difference in hiring players from Europe/Cotonou/Other countries, so you can even have 8 US players in the match roster.

I like some of the coaches we have in DBE, so it will be interesting how they will work with this rule and will our league become BBL vol 2.0, or not. I can see the most poorest teams going for a lot of cheap Americans, but teams like Polpak or Czarni (not mentioning Prokom, Turow, Anwil and Slask) can do better than it. We'll see.

I think whichever team (from the most ambitious group) will decide for 8 americans will have their arena full, make some upsets, but in general dissapoint, just as it was obvious with some teams in Germany or euroleague...

    Here are all changes:

    - every team has to have in their game roster 4 players with Polish passport,
    - the number of Americans in the roster are without any restrictions,
    - after the regular season teams from places from 5 to 12 will play in pre play-off,
    - after the regular season teams from places from 1 to 4 will play in the Final Four of Polish Cup,
    - teams would play in semifinals and finals in the best of seven series,
    - there will be All Star Game and game where Polish NT will play vs. foreign all star team,
    - trade deadline is on 15th of February 2008.

    News, news, news ...

The captain of the team, Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz (202-G/F-79), is the first player who decided to sign a deal with Energa Czarni Slupsk. Polish small forward has just extended the contract and it will be his third year in Slupsk in a row. Last season he was the key player is the headcoach's tactic and averaged 12.0 ppg., 4.2 rpg. and 2.6 apg.

Dariusz Szczubial will be the headcoach of AZS Koszalin. He will replace Arkadiusz Koniecki on this position. Szczubial is one of the well-known Polish coaches. He led Poland NT in the past but with no successes. He was also the headcoach of Polpharma Starogard Gdanski in the past while last season he spent in MKKS Rybnik in the Second League.

The website of Prokom Trefl Sopot announced officially today that Tomas Pacesas retires and he will be the assistant of the headcoach Eugeniusz Kijewski (he has valid contract until 2009) in Prokom Trefl next season

    News from Wloclawek:
Wiktor Grudzinski (208-C-78, agency: AB Agency) has just extended today his contract with Anwil Wloclawek. The 29-year-old center has played for Anwil since December 2005 so it will be his third season in Wloclawek in a row. Grudzinski last season averaged only 3.2 ppg. and 4.2 rpg. but he was very important player in Ales Pipan's defensive tactics. In his career he was also a member of Spojnia Stargard Szczecinski, Polonia Warsaw, Czarni Slupsk or Turow Zgorzelec.

The club is also interested in extension of the contracts with Andrzej Pluta, Goran Jagodnik, Gatis Jahovics and Nikola Otasevic. These players got the offers and now Anwil is waiting for their's responses. The club made a decision about the future of Otis Hill, Chris Thomas and Dusan Bocevski - they will leave Anwil for sure.

He is third import player in Zgorzelec for next season. Couple of days ago Andres Rodriguez (182-G-81, college: American) and Thomas Kelati (195-G/F-82, college: Washington St.) have extended their contracts.

    Prokom builds its power
Prokom Trefl Sopot is still completing its roster. Oscar Torres (195-F/G-76), Tomas Van Den Spiegel (214-C-78), Ruben Wolkowyski (207-C-73), Travis Best (180-G-72, college: Georgia Tech), Milan Gurovic (207-F-76, agency: Beo Basket), Krzysztof Roszyk (200-F-78) and Iwo Kitzinger (188-G-85) will be new players of Polish champion in the 2007/2008 season. The board agreed all terms of the contracts with these players and each of them should signature their own.
It is a great success to hire these players. Torres and van den Spiegel are ex-CSKA Moscow players. Venezuelian player last season started in Khimki Moscow but in the middle of the season he moved to CSKA Moscow. He can play as small forward or shooting guard. His averages - 10.5 ppg. and 4.3 rpg. When it comes to Belgian center - he spent last two seasons in CSKA, achieving two golden medals in a row of Russian Superleague and he won also the Euroleague in 2006. Last season he had 5.6 ppg., 3.0 rpg. playing 12.9 mpg in Superleague and 4.3 ppg., 2.9 rpg. in 14.4 mpg. in Euroleague.
Next player who is coming to Prokom is Argentinian power forward or center - Ruben Wolkowyski. Prokom tried to hire him in the passed years but always failed. Wolkowyski is a champion of Olimpic Games 2004 with Argentina. He has also polish passport because of his origins. Wolkowyski is ex player of Khimki Moscow, where he has played since 2004. Last season averaged - 11.1 ppg. and 4.6 rpg. The employment of Wolkowyski seems to mean the solving deal with Turkish center - Huseyin Besok (212-C-75, agency: Interperformances).
As we informed some days ago Best, Gurovic, Roszyk and Kitzinger will be also Prokom's players.
Moreover the club is interested in Lynn Greer (186-G-79, college: Temple)'s services. American player has still valid contract with Milwaukee Bucks but his future is unknown. It is possible that he will play in Sopot when both boards make an agreement. He would be the first point guard. Greer has an experience form Polish League. He played in Idea Slask Wroclaw 25.1 ppg. and 5.5 apg in the Euroleague games. His averages from passed season - 4.1 ppg., 1.3 apg. in 10.5 mpg.
Valid contracs have: Donatas Slanina (192-G-77), Tomas Masiulis (204-F-75), Filip Dylewicz (202-F-80) (has just extended the deal) and Besok (but probably he will be released).

    Koszarek in Anwil Wloclawek
Lukasz Koszarek (187-G-84) is next player who signed contract with Anwil Wloclawek. The point guard of Polish NT member accepted two-year deal which was signatured today. Last season Koszarek played for BOT Turow Zgorzelec but he didn't have the role in the team as he wanted. He averaged 7.3 ppg. and 1.9 apg.
Valid contracts with Anwil have: Zbigniew Bialek (until 2009), Wiktor Grudzinski (2008), Patrick Okafor (2008) and Andrzej Pluta (2009).
