  • Kyiv wins Ukraine Cup

BC Kyiv avenged last season's defeat to Azovmash in the Ukraine Cup by beating their Superliga rivals in the final of this year's competition.

In a battle of EuroCup sides, Artur Drozdov and Damir Rancic tore apart the Mariupol team as Kyiv prevailed 75-65.

Azovmash, having lost a thrilling EuroCup final at Akasvayu Girona on April 15, have now suffered two agonising defeats in the same month.

Rancic was outstanding on offense, scoring his 18 points by making all six of his shots from long range, while Drozdov finished with a game-high 21 points.

Drozdov, the team captain, was also excellent from the three-point arc, making three of four.

Kyiv have overcome the disappointment of a Round I exit from the EuroCup by winning the regular-season crown by one game over Azovmash to enter the Ukraine play-offs as the top seed.

They beat MBC Mykolaiv in two games to reach a semi-final series against Khimik Yuzhny, another Ukraine team to take part in the EuroCup.

Mariupol's Kenan Bajramovic came off the bench to pour in 20 points, corral 11 rebounds and dish out four assists, while Khalid El-Amin scored 15.

Azovmash center Sergei Lishchuk weighed in with 12 points and 12 boards.
