  • Serbia women's national team.

Although Serbia lists only 2,500 registered women’s basketball players, its women's national team has achieved an historic accomplishment by grabbing Olympic Bronze Medal in Rio.

However, in the last weeks, 5'8" PG Milica Dabovic, 5'9" SG Dajana Butulija, 6'2" SF Sonja Petrovic, 6'3" PF Jelena Milovanovic, 6'2" PF/C Danielle Page and 1 of the assistant-coaches Bojan Jankovic (University of Wyoming women's basketball assistant-coach) have announced their intention to retire from international basketball. If this turns out to be true, Serbia will lost its 2 best players based on performance evaluation rating (Petrovic and Page), 2 best scorers (Milovanovic and Petrovic), 2 best shot blockers (Page and Petrovic) and 3 best rebounders (Page, Petrovic and Milovanovic).

For the first time, Serbia women's national team head coach Marina Maljkovic finds herself having to rebuild the team and promoting fresh faces to replace team leaders.
