A minimum of 25 players seem too many for me, it only inflates the cost of owning a team. I think 20 would have been more realistic.

8 Teams for PFL Inaugural Kickoff

Saturday, April 01, 2017 By HENRY G. DOBLE

EIGHT football clubs from across the country are set to take the green turfs when the Philippines Football League (PFL) kicks off late this April.

Meralco Taguig has its home turf at McKinley Hill Stadium in Taguig with a 2,000-seating capacity while the JP Voltes will be based at the Marikina Sports Complex. Ilocos United FC will play their home games at the 5,000- seat Quirino Stadium.

Stallion will have their own turf at the BiƱan Football Stadium with 2,500 seats; Kaya FC at the Makati Sports Complex; and Davao Aguilas, at the 3,000-seater Tagum Davao del Norte Sports Complex.

Global is expected to settle down at the Cebu City Sports Complex with 5,000-seating capacity and Ceres Negros at Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.

The Loyola Meralco Taguig Sparks beats the Ilocos United FC 3-0 in a Pre-Season Game.

I think they should really change the name to Meralco Taguig Sparks FC, I can't understand the need to put "Loyola" in there. It makes the name a lot less cumbersome to remember.

Thanks for the heads up. So it should now be "Loyola Meralco Manila FC", or better just "Meralco Manila FC".

Amid Air of Optimism, Hard Work Begins for Newly Launched PFL

              By: Cedelf P. Tupas - Reporter / @cedelfptINQ
              Philippine Daily Inquirer / 01:33 AM April 23, 2017

After a glittering opening salvo Friday night, the hard part now begins for the countryā€™s first professional football league.

ā€œIā€™m so happy that our dream has turned into reality,ā€ said Philippine Football Federation president Mariano ā€œNonongā€ Araneta during the launch of the Philippine Football league Friday night. ā€œIt was difficult because there were so many questions that were hanging before from sponsorships, the business model of the league, which cities to play to and what communities will support us.ā€

The league took close to four years of planning and organization with a PFF Task Force getting help from the Asian Football Confederation and the International Football Federation in putting up the PFL.

Ceres-Negros FC Good Example for all PFLeague Clubs

Saturday, April 22, 2017 By JACK BIANTAN BIG JACK

THE Panaad stadium was full packed. The crowd was noisy. The pitch was immaculately green. The result was terrific. Everything was just ideal for a club football.

I wish I was there in my birth province of Negros Occidental, when Ceres-Negros Football Club (FC) crushed Hanaoi FC 6-2 in the elimination round of the AFC Cup football tournament.

The Busmen were just terrific against the Vietnamese side as they topped the table with eight points in their impressive victory at their home pitch at the Panaad stadium in Bacolod city.

But what is more impressive is how organize Ceres-Negros FC is as a professional football club. They are the envy of the other Philippine clubs as the Philippine Football League was launched Friday at the Shangri La Hotel in Makati city.

Just observe Panaad. The fans came in droves with their Ceres jerseys. They also came with drums and flags. What an atmosphere. That is how should be done inside the stadium.

Of course it helps when the owners own the countryā€™s biggest bus company, the Villacar Transit.

PFL: Meralco Downs Kaya in Manila Derby

                          Posted at Jun 18 2017 04:35 PM

MANILA, Philippines – FC Meralco Manila toppled Kaya Makati, 2-0, for its fifth consecutive victory even as JPV Marikina pulled off the biggest upset of the Philippines Football League (PFL) season so far last Saturday in Manila.

Joaco Canas opened the scoring for Meralco with a glancing header in the 43rd minute, before Phil Younghusband doubled the advantage with a spot kick in the 66th minute for the Sparks.

Meralco climbed to 15 points, three clear of JPV Marikina.

The Marikina side stunned Ceres Negros, 2-1, thanks to goals from Takumi Uesato and former Ceres striker J Baguioro at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

A late strike from Bienve Maranon in the 83rd minute set the stage for a thrilling finish, but JPV hung on to claim its fourth win in six matches.

Ueseto opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Kota Kawase fouled the JPV striker inside the area. Baguioro went on to torment his old club with a 79th minute goal.

The PFL team standings as of July 18, 2017. Strange that the two clubs competing in the Asian Club competitions are only in third and fifth place this year. Meralco-Manila FC is on a resurgence, while newcomer JPV-Marikina FC is proving that they deserve to be in this league.

                              RE: The Davao Aguilas Crowd

I watched the Davao Aguilas host the FC Meralco Manila and wow ... WHAT A CROWD. They were noisy and very animated all through the game that you can't help but cheer for them and their team.

They are about as passionate about Football as the Negros fans. They deserve a better team, and maybe a better Pitch, I hope that an Artificial Turf Pitch will sprout out in Davao someday.

The PFF I think owes the Davao fans to host a major Azkals game, it doesn't always have to be Negros.

And great game by the Aguilas, managing a Draw against the top team in the PFL right now.
