Default Group A Day 4: USA vs. Serbia

USA got a wake up call vs. Australia. Serbia is, depending on who you talk to, either coming off a heartbreaking loss to France or Celebrating a successful tank job (Silly euros tanks are for military).

In either case Serbia will probably, maybe, possibly not, definitely not, give it their best!

Serbia another tough test for the US defense but they're not really a team that gets in your face and under your skin like the Australians.

Story on NBC now about how some Australian teenage swimmer who won a gold medal fires himself up by watching Durant's MVP acceptance speech.

I think this is a really bad spot for Serbia on so many levels. The USA is coming off a subpar performance and will be motivated to bounce back. Serbian motivation for this game is questionable. I think it's a bad matchup for Serbia. Teodosic is gonna have a lot of trouble staying with the USA guards, and you can't hide him by zoning this team the way they can shoot. Cousins abused Radjulica two years ago and I expect the same. And I can't see him being effective offensively with Jordan guarding him.

Serbia is already in the mind in the quarter and the match against Lithuania.

IMO, Teodosic is a bit overrated. Yes, he's a good offensive player but his defense is questionable. The key to this game is Raduljica. If he can limit Cousins and Jordan, then Serbia has a chance of keeping this game close or maybe steal it if USA's shooters go cold.

This will be a blow out. USA is too strong and we are saving energy for 1/4 finals.

That would probably be the logical thing to do, but Djordjevic looked really pissed about our game with French and will probably want to see our team fighting in this one. Maybe they really should, to get some fighting spirit back, they can rest against China.

USA by 30/40. But it is the classical useless game that may have an excellent performance by the most useless living player, a.k.a. Bogdanovic.
Awesome talent, huge style, beautiful to watch but completely spineless.
He might get some contract and become a player who scores 15 useless points in 82 friendly game for some NBA team that normally ends regular season with a 20-62 record.

You just described the Sacramento Kings, who do in fact have his rights. Vlade Divac traded two first round draft picks and a second for his rights.

Actually Kings traded their #8 for Suns #13,#28 and the rights of Bogdanovic.

It's hilarious how accurate that is of the type if teams where spineless players are the star.

Serbia has had two cold shooting nights while the US has had the opposite with the exception of Durant. Maybe this could be the game where that is reversed.

I wouldn't call Bogdanovic spineless, on the contrary he has too much balls and not enough brains. He will shoot 0/20 and keep pulling the trigger with the game on the line. He doesn't shy away from responsibility. He wants it all, but because of that he gets carried away as a player and destroys games for his team and alienates his teammates. He puts everything on himself and believes that he is MJ reincarnated. That is just being reckless and not smart player. Nothing to do with balls and spine. He is much more disciplined in Fenerbahce where Obradovic is putting his reigns on him.

Unfortunately, as of now, he is a microwave player without consistency of elite performances. On good nights he looks unstoppable, on bad nights he is a detriment to his team.

I wasn't calling him spineless, though to me being spineless is more about whether or not you dig deep when your team needs it. Like Durant's choke job in the playoffs, or DeRozan.

Doug Collins off to a flying start in the pre game calling the Serbian center Radjulovic.

Love the optimism of Markovic, trying to block Durant's three point attempt

Also Bircevic comes out firing, like a good boy that he is
