Then if you'll finish 1st in this group, you'll be 17-20th in placing, if 2nd 21-24th and so on. Exact places should be determined by W/L ratio and then points difference, at least it always was done like that

It still does to seperate ties in win loss to determine final rankings which is basis for qualifying for Olympics or OQT

The "23 for 2023" is in deep preparation for the 2023 FIBA World Cup. Thirdy Ravena, Isaac Go, Matt Nieto, wearing the Ateneo jerseys, were sent to last year's Jones Cup. Juan Gomez-De Liano, wearing Mighty Sports jersey, was sent to the Dubai International Basketball Championship. For this upcoming edition of Jones Cup, maybe 1GDL & Thirdy Ravena would play with Mighty Sports team in Taiwan.

Our cadets are preparing very well for 2023. Kudos to SBP

        • While a reboot of Senior program should ideally start next year OQT qualified or not, I think realistically if we do qualify, it would be hard for SBP to send the Cadets 2023 pool players as the stupid fans of Lee, Thompson, Barroca, will be up in arms, sasabihin sila ang nagtanim, iba ang umani... Ideally next year, Edu, Martin and Ramos should be called up already plus young guns JDGL, Rivero, Paras, Baltazar, Go and Thirdy. Just add previous Gilas Cadets Rosario, Pogoy, Wrigjt, Parks, Bolick, and Ravena and youve got a team.

          • if we are that serious on that 23 23 stunt, they shouldve send a team in jones cup and not mighty sports, ang totoo eh its cost millions to send these college stars there as they will be loaned from their college and pba teams
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..

            • Press Reset button for 2020 OQT with Remy, JC and U19 team and Ateneo

Lets give PBA a break and let them run a full 10 month season with no interruption. They're good in entertaining anyway which is their mandate

              • Too bad Mascarinas became cowardly, he should have pursued his goal to form the national team that was not beholden to the PBA. Now he is pathetically trying to market his 3x3 teams as something legit but they are obviously just for marketing not a real program.

Well his 3x3 league is successful eneough as we regularly send Phil representation to every 3x3 league,, something that was not done before in 3x3.Heck, SBP xant even send a team to the Asiads nor send an adult age team to Fiba Asia 3x3..

Looks like Japan is sending their cadet team to the Jones Cup. Average age/height of 22 & 6'3. The oldest guy they have is 35, the youngest at 16, 4 are B.League players while the rest are university players. Meanwhile our cadets..

A world class team in basketbal in acountry that treat it as a religion, doesnt have a TEAM B.. hehe

And I dont think people in pinas, pba players ego woul hurt in playing in Gilas mapa team a o team b, mataas ang level ng maturity ng mga yan..

                      • ^^Yeah, we are too deep to be not having a Team B pool, kahit youngsters lang.

                        Paras
                        Ramos
                        Ravena
                        Rivero
                        Cansino
                        Abando
                        Tuffin
                        Ildefonso

                        Martin
                        De Liano
                        Panopio
                        Nieto
                        Abarrientos

For sure I've left out some other talents that could either contribute now or is better off trained and integrated with the team this early. Bottom line is, we can form a decent, competitive lineup even with our younger players alone in competitions not named Asian Games or World Cup. Pag mga SEA games at Jones cup din lang naman, me silat na to. At least the experience they'd get and the cohesion they'd develop playing as a team would prove very beneficial in future tourneys.

                        • If UAAP/NCAA didn't exist, you can bet that we would be sending cadets to the Jones Cup as well

Or if our beloved PBA runs for only 8 months. Say the PBA season starts in late October & ends in June. We would be able to send a developmental team in the Jones Cup & other international tournaments in the months of July, August & September (international basketball season). Guys like CJ Perez, Parks, Bolick, Tratter, Baser Amer, Ed Daquioag, Mike Tolomia, Belo, Toto Jose, etc. could play for the developmental team.

As I've repeatedly said, basketball's popularity in the Philippines somewhat hurts Philippine basketball.

Yeah, and then there's that. Perhaps an even bigger pool that includes non collegiate, non PBA standouts would do the trick. Anyone in particular that can be part of this outside of UAAP and NCAA?

                              • I am actually baffled there seems to be a non existing race for youth programs to be able to send their wards to the NBA. I mean, yeah they train and all but no extra effort to identify talents and exclusively train them with the ultimate goal of making it to the NBA.

Of course that would require extra resources as well, and not so tangible returns of prestige and fame. Businessmen come to mind, they could actually use that. Corporate entities get involved and you have commercialism to deal with. With commercialism comes conflicting interests. I see this as one sad cycle that plagues our basketball programs.
