So Matas Jucikas, Laimonas Chatkevičius and Rytis Juknevičius were cut loose from the Lithuanian roster. Admittedly I'm surprised that Jucikas and Chatkevičius were let go but this is simply because I'm familiar with their names. I can't say I have any particular insight in how they were doing with the team.

Center Martynas Sajus who had been at the national team's training camp until last weekend joined the team though. The final roster of the Lithuanian team therefore now stands as follows:

                Paulius Danisevičius 22 178 cm
                Dovis Bičkauskis 23 191 cm
                Kristupas Žemaitis 20 192 cm
                Justas Tamulis 22 196 cm
                Evaldas Å aulys 24 190 cm
                Tomas Dimša 23 195 cm
                Ignas Vaitkus 24 196 cm
                Mindaugas Kačinas 23 205 cm
                Donatas Tarolis 23 202 cm
                Martynas Sajus 21 208 cm
                Martinas Gebenas 22 206 cm
                Regimantas Miniotas 21 206 cm

While the team previously seemed to be spinning its wheels during friendlies with losses to Angola and China and victories only against New Zealand, it may now be jelling. The final score during yesterday's friendly against Serbia was 86-68 for Lithuania.

Serbia lose to China 65-69 in the 3rd and last day of the preparation tournament held in Dalian.

According to Serbian coach Zoran Todorovic, Chinese game’s officials somehow managed to make a mess of a game Serbia would’ve won under pretty much any circumstances. It's worth mentioning that Serbia's three leading players Tejic, Nenadic and Djokovic were rested, and that Vranes, Sarenac, Brkic and Topalovic have stepped in and filled the void left by the absences of the leading players mentionned above.

Scorers for Serbia : Jovanovic 5, Brkic 9, Tejic DNP, Nenadic DNP, Veljkovic 2, Pavlovic 2, Djokovic DNP, Nikolic 4, Sarenac 16, Topalovic 8, Vranes 16, Matic 2.

It is somewhat amazing any team would even go to China for training......

Chinese refs? Screwing up and cheating?! nooooo......

                          USA Holds Off Canada 94-86

First of two exhibition games between the squads

Isaac Haas scored 20 points with 11 rebounds and Team USA made 11 of its last 12 free throw attempts to defeat Team Canada 94-86 in an exhibition game in front of 3,780 fans at Carmel High School.

The two teams are competing in the World University Games in Taipei and will wrap up a brief, two-game series on Saturday at Lafayette Jefferson High School in Lafayette, Indiana.

Team USA jumped out to a 24-17 first-quarter lead, but trailed at the break 43-42 after Team Canada used a late second-quarter run to wipe out a 10-point American lead.

Team USA then outscored its northern neighbor 52-43 in the second half for the eight-point victory.

Haas led five players in double-figures with 20 points and 11 rebounds in 23 minutes of action. The 7-foot, 2-inch center from Hokes Bluff, Alabama, was 8-of-9 from the field.

Carsen Edwards added 14 points, Vincent Edwards had 13 points and nine rebounds, and P.J. Thompson and Dakota Mathias chipped in with 10 points each.

Conor Morgan, who was Canada's National Player of the Year, led Team Canada with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

Team USA's four seniors (Haas, V. Edwards, Thompson, Mathias) accounted for 53 of the 94 points scored.

The Americans shot 32-of-73 (.438) from the field, 6-of-21 (.286) from deep and 24-of-32 (.750) from the free throw line. Both teams had 17 turnovers and Team USA outrebounded the Canadians 49-43

University of Maryland, representing USA women, will play two friendlies with Chinese Taipei and Australia prior to the tournament start. Australia should be the same team currently competing at the U23/24 tournament in Japan.
