1 dead, 6 injured in fights between reds and greens

Most Europeans & South Americans have this hooligans problem. Today its Greece in the spotlight. Tommorow, who knows?

Americans are more civilized on this aspect. You don't see hooliganism on this level over there.

Anyway, I despise hooligans and they ruin my day every time I see them.

Some more facts from the evening news reports:

-The dead guy is a well known member of the organized fans of the greens.
-It was the goal of the red party to find him and kill him
-He was repeatedly stabbed by two different knives/people while being hit on the head with a baseball bat by a third person
-It was indeed a fixed date between greens and reds
-The police escorted the red convoy for a long way of the 30km ride though their bikes had their liscence plates covered. The convoy amassed more than 100 bikes and over 200 people.
-Greens arrived at the site in smaller groups and eventually met there.
-Participants were wearing swimming vests to avoid injuries from knives
-Older guys (35-50 year-olds)were controlling the attack giving orders to the "warriors"
-A red "leader" yelled at an eye-whitness to get back inside( a building) or he would spill his guts out
-Both parties were prepared to kill or die
-2 of the arrested people are working for the football department of olympiakos
-1 arrested is a nephew of a parliament member
-1 arrested is son of a police officer
-The police bashed several organized fans offices of both teams and found a whole weaponry and drugs of any kind.

I would like to state my opinion now and elevate the participants from the majority of red or green fans. I believe they are plain criminals that don't have to do much with sports, they just felt the urge to belong to a group at a young age. All of them should rot in prison

Well, I guess it happens in most places in the world - may be excluding US somehow (never heard of fans battling there, as opposite to players sometimes...). In Israel we also have incidents during soccer games and in basketball arenas - nothing too bloody, but who knows what be next...

That's because in America you can sue people for anything. Even frivolously.

It seems to be a bit corrupt here and in other places in Europe.
For example the police don't do anything about it. I heard when locals had been calling the police to report 200 men all meeting to fight, the cops never done anything. I also understand that the owners of the teams are all connected to the mafia.

Now inside the grounds like the bball cup final last weekend and the football with Turkey when trouble broke out, no one seems to bother doing anything either.
In the UK, and there is trouble sometimes, when fans cause trouble inside the ground, there is CCTV cameras everywhere, so if a fan is caught doing something like throwing something or fighting he gets recorded on CCTV and the cops find the guy and ban him for life. Why does this not happen here, probably because it is corrupt.
