How to Appreciate Football for Basketball Fans

So, I have decided to follow football now that basketball these days suck, but I have no idea what each position in football does other than the GK being the last line of defense and the strikers and midfielders as the main offense players. So any clarifications on what each position does on the football field and what are their equivalent positions and jobs in basketball, like the GK being the rim protector and the strikers and midfielders being the scoring guards and forwards, respectively?

the positions in Soccer
Goal Keeper - the last line of the defense (if you compare it to basketball think of hassan whiteside)
Line Back - defender on each side of the field
Center back - defender on center.
CB/LB if you compare to basketball, a certain lockdown defender

the position of that is like this

Theirs also a CDM - a center defense midfielder
CAM - Central attack midfielder (the one who creates plays and assists) compare it to basketball they're like the point guards
CM - Central midfielder (almost the same with CAM)
LM - Left midfielder (almost the same with cam)
RM - Right midfielder (almost the same with cam)

Attackers (they're like the go to scorers in basketball)
CF - central attacker
LF - Left attacker (attacking from the left side)
RF - Right attacker (attacking from the right side)
ST - same as central attacker
LW - left wing (same with LF)
RW - Right wing (Same with RF)

i'll used the formation that i used in fifa 17 as example

The Azkals right now have a good, young, tall and athletic CENTER BACK in AMANI AGUINALDO. We also have a good LEFT BACK in DAISUKE SATO.

Our best MIDFIELDERS right now are definitely STEPHAN SCHROCK and MANNY OTT, while our best STRIKER right now is JAVIER PATINO.

The other positions are still not as solid right now, especially at South East Asian level.

Take note though that SWEEPERS are generally not used anymore but rather two CENTER BACKS are used who play side by side. The reason for this is to set up a trap so the opponent's opposing STRIKERS will be caught in an Offside position. This is what's called as the OFFSIDE TRAP.

Here's a great example of an excellent "First Touch" skill. Note how she was able to control the ball as it was passed over to her resulting in a goal. She makes it look easy, but skill like this is actually very difficult to master and a few gifted ones are only able to do it consistently in actual competitions.

Awesome. I wish the Azkals can be at least just half as good as the women's football teamd of the US and Japan. We are improving now, but we just need to take it slow and win as many games as we can. Our time in world football will come soon.

The comments on FB and YT were just pure cancer. Why do the women absolutely have to win against the men in any sport just to prove that women's sports are legit? Is this part of the still strong macho culture, or it's just American soccer fans being salty over the fact that the US Women's Team does better internationally than the US Men's Team?

Men and women are physiologically different, of course the men will always win over the women, but it does not make women's sports any less legit.

A prime example of quality Football. Look at those fast, quick passes and excellent first touches. Although the scores were low, there were a number of really awesome last saves by the keepers. This is what Football is should be about.

I think this is not essential because everyone like football. A basketball player also like football. As like as cricketer. A cricket player also played football and they like football. They have a different different choice about football player. Football is a very interesting sport and exciting sport that is why no one can dislike football. Basketball and football is not same but similar to each other.
