Based on the video, while he isn't athletic he isn't akward either, his shooting form is decent as well. he really has super potential, much of how far he will go is really dependent on the mental aspect rather than physical (which is already there)

Nobody is athletic when you are 13.. Athleticism develops at puberty age, in filipinos it usually comes out between the age of 15 to 17 because of body structure compared to African or white. I am not saying he will be a superior athlete, but you can't be too seriours evaluating a 13 year old kid athletic ability.

Hopefully the pressure won't get to him, getting hyped very early is both good and bad so hopefully he is surrounded by the right people...
He'll play for ateneo so he's going to get hyped.

Seriously, it's a big "IF" his school trains him right. I'm not too confident about it though.

If training him to play a Big Man, there is Danny I over there. But as a wing no idea who is there and the system.

Not sure about Danny I as a big man coach. At his age he shouldn't be trained to be as flat-footed as Ildefonso.

Hopefully Kai will be more RDO than Danny I.

the closest resemblance i have of Kai is a left handed young Zhou Ki, a 7' 2 " forward could be the end output of kai

Is he ambidextrous? When I was watching him, at first I only saw him doing lay ups with his right hand even on the left side of the basket and thought he still doesn't have off hand control. Then he started shooting with his left pretty decent stroke, but looks like he still holds the ball like its a little bit heavy. He seems ambidextrous to me.

that kid's shooting form looks good, and you can tell that he's comfortable shooting in the perimeter. Can use right and left hand on both sides of the basket also. Very promising. #Durantula

I expect this kid to be not awkward growing up. He had his dad, and YDO, RDO to look up to
IMHO, he should be trained as to the basics/ fundamentals of basketball and not taught to be a center at once as if this is the only position that he should learn. when the time comes, it would be nice to see the kid being able to play ALL POSITIONS ala Larry Bird or Magic Johnson

I want see him play like Tim Duncan than magic and bird.. because cannot ask him to play like Pg,sg and Sf if he is 7"2 or 7"3. He need to play center or Power forward to guard middle to get rebound and shoot blocking that is what Philippine team lacking.. we need dominant center or Power forward.

I hope he doesn't end up a softie like his father. Lifting weights when he is physically mature enough could help strengthen his upper body

hope a forumer here will give us accounts of his performance in this tournament. not expecting a super performance but observing how his potential will be. he is still a very young kid compared to 16-18 y/o hs kids. but this will be a good start for exposure.

Per @jlfoxsports Twitter, Kai Sotto made his debut playing for AHS in an 81-86 loss to defending NCAA junior champs SBC Red Cubs. No other game reports except to quote Sotto "kinakabahan ako" because of the big crowd.

    Cool

Kai Sotto's debut game for his new school.

SAN JUAN CITY – University of the East leaned on the clutch plays of Edson Batiller and Renz Palma in overtime to put away Ateneo de Manila University, 93-91, on opening day Saturday (April 30) of the 2016 FilOil Flying V Premier Cup at the San Juan Arena. It was a double whammy for Ateneo as the San Beda Red Cubs hacked the Blue Eaglets in the opening of Junior Division hostilities, 86-81. READ MORE
