Well to be fair, it's his first time to play against skilled players at that size. If he does not imrpive next year, that's when the red flags come

Do you know that in 24 hours, 200 people died of nCov in Italy?

Watch some news, not just basketball.

I think Kai needs to beef up physically. He needs to get a physical trainer to help him gain more muscles. He's too lanky especially for someone who dreams in being in the NBA. He looks like he is a "skinny fat" than a lean person (e.g. Kouame, Gabe Norwood - slender but you can see his muscle contour).

That will come with time. Can't expect him to play all these games then gain muscles just like that. He is just 17. Players from the States, enter college rail thin, but end up muscular by 24 and onwards.

    Agree.

In as much as I would like a muscular & not a lanky Kai Sotto, I think gaining a significant weight in a span of a short period won't be advisable. I would always want Kai to do things gradually in so far as physical development is concerned. I think Kai gained about 15 to 20 pounds in the last 7 months which is just an ideal amount of weight gain for such period. And Kai's weight gain is noticeable if one would compare his physique 7 months ago with his current physique.

You're correct, most US college players used to be lanky/thin during their college years but would be muscular when they reach mid-20's.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

You don't gain muscles by playing basketball. Basketball is cardio, not weightlifting. Muscle is gained when you do progressive proper weight training. He needs to get a trainer that will teach him how to use free weights and weight machines.

Kai needs to really do proper weight training. It puts muscles, strengthens muscles, and strengthens bones. Also, one good thing about weightlifting is it trains your body for proper posture - something that Kai really needs.

He is not "just 17". His frame is actually more of like a 14 y/o minus the height. There are many teenagers that have already lean but muscular built.

He doesn't need to have the body of Taulava, that is largely genetic. He could at least have the physique of Gabe Norwood. Slender, but lean and muscular.

So those college kids who become muscular don't become muscular by playing basketball. They become muscular because of lifting weights. Weight lifting is popular in the US, especially among younger people and increasingly, among women (which is good since it makes your bones stronger therefore preventing osteoporosis)

Yeah he definitely needs to bulk up as we dont want him to end up like Bol Bol. Very skilled and talented given his size but considered as injury-prone early in his career.

Doesn't work for everyone, sometimes even become the cause of injury. See junmar, Balingit, Paul Lee etc. And on the other hand we also see players are thin or lean having a very long basketball career. See arwind Santos, balkman etc

Arwind Santos is actually lean and muscular, not lanky and "skinny fat". Quite like the frame of Gabe Norwood

Kai doesn't have to aim for physique like Marc Pingris or Asi Taulava - those frame are largely genetic.

However, while he is young, he could start proper "bulking up". I guess, bulking up easily a misinterpreted term. I think I'll go with using strength conditioning. Build muscle, strengthen muscle, strengthen bones. This can be achieved by proper weight lifting.

Perhaps you just missed it but Kai already does weight training when he was in Ateneo and when he was in Atlanta with P3. They have done an extensive study on Kai’s body developments and mechanics. I think it’s progressively getting better. By 20 he will be right there in terms of muscle devt.

That's kind of weird. I think China still has about 75% of the cases. The source trying to downplay their situation while the Europeans are doing the opposite.

    # of cases isn't actually a good measure of severity of the problem (as that factors the ability to test). But rather it is the ability to restrict movement of people response, % of deaths vs positive (Italy is so high) and % that are severe.. (late treatment)
