Different types of players. Also Pau was 21 when he was a rookie with several seasons of serious basketball before it. Jokic had a single season of low level basketball before making a switch. He does more for his team outside of just scoring. He already has a a great outside shot and is much more efficient scorer. I'll take that over few more points per game.

Jokic continue to thrive with another triple double against the Clippers and it was accomplished in only 3 quarters and about 20 minutes of playing time. If a Denver holds on and makes the playoffs I think he will be named to an all-NBA team.
Winning rightfully always plays a vital role in such voting and he definitely deserves it over stat guys like Anthony Davis and Cousins whose numbers have not translated to wins.

He is a gem. Inserting him into starting lineup has put Nuggets in the playoffs and they are one of the best teams post All-Star Break. The way they are playing, Warriors (if they end up with No. 1 seed), might not have an easy job vs the Nuggets in the 1st round of the playoffs.

Last night 16/10/7 line vs Cavs. Denver won. This one really stood out.

Lebron can't stop fouling, refs don't care to call it, Jokic still scores.

Because Marjanovic has no his own thread, i must ask here what kind of idiot is Van Gundy? He was giving advantage to Baynes over Marjanovic whole season... Bobi really has no luck with coach, for now.

About Jokic, he finally dominates Davis. I hope Denver will not achieve PO this season, it's better option for out NT.

                    That passing. Amazing.

I wouldn't want anyone taking that kind of threes though

How come Jokic regressed stats wise compared to last season? Different role?

I haven’t watched match of Denver so far this year but by just looking at his statistics I don’t think he has regressed.
His rebounding and assists are almost identical and his scoring is down less than a point a game. His field goal percentage is down but I would attribute that to him taking a lot more threes this year. His minutes are up which to me is crucial because it is an indicator that he learning how to limit his personal fouls committed or avoid getting in further foul trouble and therefore stay on the court.

The main issue is still conditioning. This year he has focused all off-season on defense and he has improved drastically. This year he is actually a good defender for NBA standards. With his conditioning and the energy he spends on defensive end of the floor, he is just spent and not as aggressive on offense.

Others have picked up the slack too. Since Harris and Murray are now going even more wild...

Meh, i dont think he regressed at all, he improved his defense in the offseason and at beggining of the season he looked really good on defense, this Denver season has been turmoil a bit for him, in beggining of season Jokic tried so hard to integrate Millsap into Denver's offense, then Millsap got injured, Jokic had a few nice games then he got injured to, coming off the injury he had really huge problems on defence it looked like whole effort he put in improving his defense offseason dissappeared, because of that Malone put him into lineup with Plumlee which is playing C and Jokic plays as PF this really has been bad for Jokic, smaller and quicker guys really make problems for him, he has also been camping out of 3pt line while Plumlee was playing at C like a poors man jokic, another thing there is noone in Denver who can play PnR with Jokic which is really sad

at this point Malone is sabotaging him and Barton also, he is pushing Jokic to play at PF and force his 3pt shooting, while Barton is forced to play at PG position, both of them lost confidence and are becoming really strange on offense, i have never seen coach so clueless about his job, its unbelivable

If only Nuggets had a reliable point guard who is capable of running some basic pick&roll and pick&pop sets with Jokić more frequently. He is incredibly efficient in those situations, but the Nuggets decided to go away from it for some reason, probably effected by the lack of a true point guard for most of the season, and there is also a permanent inability of the Nuggets' guards to make an entry pass to the post. Having that in mind, his scoring numbers look fairly impressive. He is playing with such a grace and IQ that it's really hard not to fall in love with his game.

But, not everything is rosy with Jokić. He really needs to fight harder defensively, improve his foot speed and mental toughness. He is easily being exploited in pick&rolls or when being switched to smaller guys on the perimeter. He is becoming a main target of opposing teams' game plans. Nuggets perimeter defense doesn't help though, it's so bad.
