Samad has a problem with Kazemi... and he doesn't want him on the team... and apparently Iranian federation will listen to what Samad Bahrami tells them.

They indeed have serious problems but that's not the case. Kazemi has to serve his "mandatory military service" since he is not a student anymore, if he enters the country he can't leave until he serves 2 years in military or finds a solution for that. and he didn't want to ruin his chance (eventhough very slim chance) for NBA by entering Iran.

btw most of the national athletes didn't really serve in military, they usually play 2 years in military-related teams or find a way to be exempt from that law, Kazemi could be easily an exempt because he was studying abroad but apparently someone in basketball federation forgot to do something.

and beside that, Bauermann renewed his contract and will coach the Iranian NT for another 4 years.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know about it...
Well I hope they can fix his issue so he can represent the Iranian NT again.. it would be a shame if he can't as he is a valuable player for the Iranian NT especially now with many veterans coming close to the end of their careers.

Wow! that's quite a bold move to renew Bauermann's contract for another 4 years! Seems the Iranian federation really trust and believe in him

I have a question. I watched the last world Cup U19 and leader of Iran NT at the tournament was Mohammad Yousoufand, he played really very cool. But I have my doubts about his age, he looks older than me.

Was on the website of the Iranian Federation, and downloaded from there the final journal for the 2012/2013 season with all the winners of that season. And there's the same picture of this young man. How to understand this?

seems understandable considering how much SNB has done for the team.. but now that he's entering the twilight of his career maybe he should let AK assume the team's leadership. Or maybe it's more than just an issue of leadership, is it?

I wonder if this is a final list? No Nikkhah-Bahrami?

Yep and not just him, Kamrani and Afagh are also not here with few other veterans, these 3 guys plus Sahakian and Haddadi were our starters for so many years, at least from 2007.

obviously Iran has no chance in Olympic qualifier, so they decided to start the transition this year. it's not clear if these guys will come back to the NT next year or not , but I think we won't see all of them together in NT once again. The "Golden Generation" is officially done.

    Update

After winning the WABA Championship , our guys are in the Philippines, they had a semi-serious game today, no final score as they re-started the scoreboard after each quarter, Oshin and Kazemi didn't play and Haddadi isn't there, he is suppose to join the team in China.

but in an interview Bauerman revealed his plans abut the NT, he is changing some positions, he believes Yakhchali can be a perfect PG ! and he is using Behnam as a PG, for him Jamshidi is too small to be a SF, Dirk considers him a small Guard ! and he believes Arsalan Kazemi should play as small forward. he says "I train with Arsalan everyday, he is a good shooter" ! Kazemi didn't play official basketball for a year, so it's not surprising if he is not in shape yet.

so this is wll be our starting lineup this summer, Yakhchali, Jamshidi, Kazemi, Sahakian/Zangeheh/Hassanzadeh and Haddadi

as I said before, Samad, Kamrani, Afagh and also players like Davari, Davarpanah etc won't be with the NT this summer, not their decision though, but Bauermann's decision. Some of them may come back next year

Sad about Iran losing to Latvia bigtime today in tune up. First loss since the tune up with Ph last June 7, 8 and since winning the Atlast Challenge

Sad yes, I first tought that we were outplayed.
However things were equal till the end of the first half when one Latvian player hit Haddadi on his eyebrow which caused huge bleeding. But then Hamed got angry because the Latvian guy wasn't sanctionned (don't know if it was on purpose, probably not but still it was dangerous and he must have been sanctionned) and Hamed was finally fired because of this story while he was the injured one. Then when the match restarted our guys lost their concentration and motivation because of this, and other numerous biased refering decisions which followed. The margin started to increase and our players were no longer motivated to play after many controversial decisions.

Bauerman sent mostly substitute players in 2nd half in order to give them experience (the team is quite young) but still the match was close (15 points margin) till 5/6 min in 3rd quarter. Then we collapsed completely, but this is no surprise against such a good team with strong basics when you don't play at 100% and you are angry about biased refering. It is sad because with fair refereing it would have been interesting to see what can do our new team against a very strong European side after their good matches in China. They good results against Macedonia, China B and Lithuania B/C which makes me hopeful against this team, they also won against Tall Blacks which shows the team is good. I think in 1 year or 2 with Bauerman we can get back at 1st in Asia. However China and Philippines have made huge progress during that time but I still think we have huge potential too.
