Cameroon versus Senegal in the finals, a battle of teams that blew big leads in their semifinals two years ago but came through in close games today. Actually, Senegal almost choked against Angola again but pulled it out with a late pair of free throws. Nigerian coach was not happy with the officiating in their loss to Cameroon.

Trivia question: How many games have African women's basketball teams won at the Olympics?

There have been several unexpected results in this tournament, one for all Nigeria-Angola should have been the gold medal game.
Cameroon instead has been imo the biggest surprise, reaching the final unbeaten.
Btw, in yet another crazy result, Angola was leading +10 at Q3 vs Nigeria, but went scoreless for the entire Q4, badly losing 65-55. Nigeria took the bronze and the last spot for the Olympic qualifier.
Let's see what happens in the final, Senegal should be favorite, but who knows...

Senegal took gold and got the automatic qualification for Rio, after clearly winning over Cameroon 81-66.
Several former NCAA players shined in the tournament. Today, Aya Traoré (Purdue 2006) led Senegal with 17 pts, while Cameroon's Ramses Lonlack (Memphis 2012) finished with 14 pts (15.5 ppg in the tournament).
In the bronze game, Nigeria's Joyce Ekworomadu (Texas State 2008) scored 15 pts and grabbed 7 reb, while teammate and former Texas A&M player Adaora Elonu had 10 pts and 8 reb.
Ekoworomadu is a member of the Harlem Globetrotters.

Very evenly matched tournament, any of the semifinalists or Mali could have won. Doubt Senegal will win any games next summer. Nigeria is potentially interesting if they can add some players.

Similar to the All-Africa Games semifinal between the same teams a couple weeks ago, where Angola was ahead by 11 points in the fourth quarter but Nigeria came back to win.

I couldn't be happier to see the girls playing such a wonderful match giving out their good game. I was there supporting them wearing my lucky blackpink varsity jacket and that match was outstanding.

Recently, I had the exciting opportunity to purchase a Kentucky Wildcats jacket, and what made the experience even better was finding it at the lowest price from Get Varsity Jackets. As a passionate fan of the Kentucky Wildcats, I was eager to show my support for the team in style, and this jacket was the perfect way to do so.
