Christian David was named MVP at the Sun Youth Holiday Classic tournament in Canada .

    2017 ESPN Top 100 (#82) - Basketball Recruiting

Christian David Could Dominate Prep Scene in America
Christian David is looking like a stud. The level of aggression in his game has improved drastically. Vermont really brought out the beast in that kid. As previously mentioned from the trip to Connecticut, Bruce Brown is credited for the fire that David has been playing with as of late.

The Canadian 2017 combo guard is starting to embrace his role as a lead contributor and go to scorer. With one more year left on the prep scene, it is really intriguing to see how he continues to develop mentally, because from a skill standpoint there is no worry.

With his skill set, he could play up to 4 positions effectively. He can handle the ball with control and speed. He has a knack for rebounding, and has a good feel around the basket. His vision in transition, and in the half court set, are on point. Christian’s shot is a smooth thing, throughout this tournament his three ball fell like water. David was the leading scorer at halftime, finishing with 26 points.

Christian David is learning the art of domination. With seniors moving on to the NCAA level, he has an opportunity to embrace a role as a leader at Vermont Academy

Every spring, there are a few prospects that jump onto the page as priority-level, high-major guys heading into their senior summer. Christian David, a 6-foot-6 wing out of Vermont Academy, may have already gotten a start on that breakout campaign. It was his time at the Hoop Hall Classic over the weekend that enabled for the Canadian prospect to display his vast upside and ball skills on the perimeter.

Suiting up alongside Bruce Brown, one of the toughest and hard-nosed prospects in all of high school ball, David has been able to come along slowly in developing his mean streak and go-to mentality in the backcourt. Still though, the first year transfer into the prep program has allowed for David to develop his entire package of abilities and a game that could make him one of the most thoroughly recruited prospects within his 2017 recruiting class.

By way of his quality outside jumper, the 6-foot-6 junior can be quickly labeled a specialist on the perimeter. However, David is more than just a shooter of the ball as he can facilitate within the half-court setting, can drive and distribute with his off-hand, and is deceptively athletic at the basket. Throw in his versatility that touches both sides of the playing floor and David has everything that you might want in a top of the line prospect.

Walking away with his newest offers out of Seton Hall and Virginia Tech due to his play over the weekend, David originally listed 10 offers ranging from the mid to high-major level. It is three of those programs that have put in the most work with him. “George Washington, Creighton, and Providence are recruiting me the hardest right now,” the Canadian stated. “They really want me. They are just telling me that I'm their top recruit and fit into program really well.”

Planning to take some visits in the spring, the Vermont Academy junior does have a good feel for what he is looking for in a future college home. “I like teams that spread the floor, drive and kick, and like shooting the 3,” David told HoopSeen.

With others such as Virginia and Michigan are showing further interest, expect for the fluid recruitment of Christian David to hit full steam ahead this spring as he suits up for the talented CIA Bounce bunch.

      91 Likes, 10 Comments - Eric Truong (@truong.eric) on Instagram: "SHUT THE GYM DOWN!!!!!#shiftteam #iamballup @calebhomesley"

Brad Foster didn’t expect much when he first heard that twins Eric and Michael Truong wanted to play for the Front Royal Flames last year. Once the Front Royal Flames boys basketball coach saw them on the court, though, his opinion quickly changed.
“The first day I saw them and I saw two little scrawny Asian twins, and their dad was saying they’re good point guards, and so I didn’t think much of it when I saw them,” Foster said. “But the minute they hit the basketball court they electrified the whole place.”

Eric and Michael Truong, who live in Winchester, tried out for the Flames, a homeschool team, midway through last year. This season, as freshman, they are making a much bigger impact on the team. Eric Truong is averaging 22.1 points per game, while Michael Truong is averaging 17.3 per game.
Foster said that the pair has helped his program, which usually struggles.

“Usually we’re in the bottom tier of the talent level, but with the twins this year they’ve brought us into the middle of the pack,” Foster said. “With them still being young, we’ve got a bright future for the team.”

The Truong twins began playing basketball just four years ago, and have progressed quickly. They immediately had great ball-handling skills, which caught the eye of many that watched them play.

“Most people they start off with fundamentals, but we started off backwards,” Eric Truong said. “We started out like street ball first.”
Michael Truong added, “Most people start out with fundamentals and then once they get that down they get the fancy stuff.
“A lot of people said we started out with the fancy stuff and with the talent with that, and then we developed the fundamentals.”
Michael Truong is the Flames’ point guard, while his brother is the shooting guard. The pair practice year-round and also play Amateur Athletic Union basketball in Loudoun County and are coached by Eric Williams.

The pair said playing AAU has helped their games a lot over the last few years.
“It’s different, you get to travel around,” Eric Truong said of AAU. “It’s a lot more fast-paced.”
The pair also practice for a few hours every day at Body Renew Fitness in Winchester. They said the fact that they have each other has helped them get better at the game quicker.
“It helps with your practice, because normally people go out there and shoot by themselves and go rebound the ball themselves,” Michael Truong said. “But we play one-on-one, and it’s more efficient.”
Two years ago the Truong twins played for Millbrook’s JV squad, but last year the family decided to pull them out of public schools and homeschool them.
Their father, James, said their grades are very important to them, and they must make good grades to play.
“We’re very proud of them, and they do well in school. That’s one thing we do emphasize to them,” James Truong said. “My wife she says they cannot play unless they get a 4.0 in school. That’s the bottom line. She will not take anything less than that. They are aware and they know that.”
The twins said they also spend a lot of time doing things like cardio and working out to be complete players. They both said they went to get stronger to become even better players.
It’s certainly working out for them so far this season. Eric Truong leads the team with 1.5 steals per game, and is also shooting 59.6 percent (187-for-314) from the floor. He is also shooting 50.4 percent (66-for-131) from 3-point range. Eric Truong said he had eight 3-pointers in one game, and scored 40 points in a game against Central Virginia Homeschool earlier this season.
Michael Truong is averaging 2.3 assists per game and 1.2 steals. He is shooting 56.3 percent (139-for-247) from the floor. He is also shooting 36-for-79 from 3-point range (52.2 percent), and is shooting a team-best 81.6 percent from the free-throw line.
The pair also know each other so well, which helps them out on the court to be even more successful.
“We know how to read each other’s minds,” Michael Truong said. “I know if he’s going to back door cut, or what he’s going to do. I know if he’s going to rebound or he’s going to shoot. We have a twin telepathy.”
The pair said they also push each other to make each other better in every facet of the game.
Foster said the other players on the team have accepted them and are happy to play with them.
“The chemistry on the team has just been tremendous this year,” Foster said. “There’s no inner conflicts or personality conflicts or anything on the team at all.”
The Flames are 14-11 and have their biggest games of the season still to come. The Flames will be in the Virginia Homeschool boys basketball tournament on Feb. 27-28 in Roanoke, and in the East Coast Homeschool Basketball Championships on March 10-14 at Liberty University. The East Coast tournament is run by Front Royal resident and Flames girls basketball coach Chris Davis.
Defense has been one of the biggest problems for the Flames this season, but they still have some time to improve in that area.
“We just have to stop [the] other team from scoring more than we do as a team,” Michael Truong said. “We’re still improving, so it’s all good. By the time we get to the East Coast tournament, which we have each year, I think we should be fine.”

There’s no question that Eric and Michael Truong should be fine as they continue to improve their games. They said they have already received interest from colleges, including Liberty University.

Foster said they have scouts come watch their games, and he gets emails regularly from other players who are interested in joining the team and playing with the twins.

“Even though they’re young, people are already taking notice,” Foster said. “If their bodies mature physically, they have a very, very good opportunity to play college basketball.

“They have a very bright future in basketball and they work hard at it.”

Alex Cho ( 2018 G, La Jolla Country Day/ San Diego All Stars)

Cho is a savvy scoring lead guard whose strength and quickness give him the ability to get his shot whenever he wanted in this setting. Whenever his team needed a big shot, it was Cho who delivered, hitting the 24-footer that was the dagger in Arizona State’s comeback. He is a gifted scorer from all three levels, including a lethal spot-up shot with deep range. Cho is also a capable defender whose quick feet and strength overpower smaller guards. Moving forward, it will be interesting to see if the 6-0 Cho will grow much more, as it appears he hasn’t grown in a couple of years, but as it stands, he is one of the top prospects in 2018 in San Diego. His performance in the Top 20 game sealed the victory for his Arizona team.

Michael Wang 6’9” Mater Dei (Santa Ana CA)
Chinese native has the size and skill to be a factor on the offensive end. Consistency is the key. Top 30 selection at last September’s Pangos All-West Frosh/Soph Camp at Cerritos College (CA). - Full Court Press

2018 Michael Wang (Mater Dei) is a 6-9ish 4-man who has savvy and skill beyond his years, but his motor needs to improve - Joel Francisco

2018 SF/PF Michael Wang, Santa Ana Mater Dei: The one move that surmised Wang’s day was a running left-handed sky hook that hit nothing-but-net. The 6-foot-8 forward is gifted offensively. - Devin Ugland

Jessiya is a pass first guard who is constantly looking to get the rest of his team involved. His activity on defense caused chaos for opposing offensive players. He has a great attitude on the court and understanding of the game.

Jessiya has a very good basketball IQ and understanding of how to space out a defense. He is a strong ball handler who looks comfortable when the ball is in his hand. Doesn't get flustered by pressure and was always able to get off a clean pass - HoopGroup

Villa is a heady, active pure point man who is effective in the half court and transition. He understands pace of play, when to push it and when to pass it, is an effective, under control penetrator and plays hard all of the time. He will need to get stronger and extend his shooting range. His level will depend on his growth in size and strength; that said, he is a definite D1 prospect. - DMV Elite

“Tremendous, don’t let them fool you. You see two Asian kids and you don’t believe that they can play, and they end up with 25 points. They’re amazing to coach, they work so hard, don’t miss a workout; they just love the game. I’m a lucky coach to have those two. They are going to lead me to a state championship”.

The Wang brothers have definitely be the talk of the town majority of the season. With their hawk eye ability and defensive pressure, they are known all across the Hampton roads. If they weren’t known before, they definitely introduced themselves Monday afternoon.
