  • High School players of Asian descent!

*New separate thread to keep track of any high school (secondary school) players that are upcoming prospects that are gaining interests to play in NCAA/college or play professional basketball.

Post news, information, stats, videos, pics, updates, scouting reports, rankings, etc on any players of Asian descent that are playing in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Spain, others countries in Europe, etc!

I'll start off with some players from the previous college thread:

Kobe Paras (Philippines) | 6’6" Guard/Forward | Class of 2016 | Cathedral High School, Los Angeles, California
An athletic wing-type player who plays with tremendous energy. He is dangerous in the open court and attacks the rim with a vengeance. He is a slasher that has great body control and power when he is making his first step going hard into the rim. - ESPN
    • 2014 FIBA Asia U-18 Championship
    • Creighton commit

    Christian David| 6’7" Guard|Class of 2017|Bishop Reding, ON, Canada
Is quick, slithery, has great range, and can light up a scoreboard, but is often criticized for the slightest bump derailing him. Overall a solid player who can be a great option for any team he plays for especially with his efficient shooting ability and under appreciated blocking ability at his size. - Hoops Hype Canada
    • Butler Commit
    • NCAA Division 1 offers: Baylor, Illinois,Oregon, Michigan, George Washington
    • 2014 Adidas Nations: Canada
    • 2014 Lebron James Camp
    • 2015 BioSteel All-Canadian (Top 24 game)
    • 2017 ESPN 100 Basketball Recruiting

Christian Juzang | 6’3" Guard| Class of 2016 | Viewpoint High School, Calabasas, California
Juzang has a nice blend of size, speed and basketball IQ that you like to see in your point guard. At 6’3”, he sees the court over shorter guards, and delivers the ball to where his teammates need it to be effective. He is a very good penetrator, and also is a very good shooter to boot. On defense, he does a really good job with his activity level on the ball (active hands, quick feet). He’s less heralded than some of the other guards in his class, but has the upside to be atop that list. - Full Time Hoops
    • NCAA Division 1 offers: Darthmouth, Pepperdine, Yale, San Francisco, Loyola, Lehigh
    • COMMIT: HARVARD (Ivy League)

Dwight Ramos | 6’5" Forward | Class of 2016 | Walnut High School, Walnut, California
    • NCAA Letters of Interests: UC Santa Barbara, University of Southern California (USC), UC Irvine
      Cal State Fullerton Commit
*Transferred from Mater Dei High school

    Dwight Ramos | Fr. | G | 6-5 | West Covina, Calif. | Walnut HS
Ramos recently completed his final season on the court for Walnut High School in Walnut, Calif., and was named to the All-CIF-Southern Section 2015-16 Boys Basketball Division 1A First Team after averaging 28.0 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.6 blocks per game.

The versatile guard scored 40 points or more on five occasions during the year, and helped lead the Mustangs to the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section 2016 Boys Basketball Championships as Walnut ended its season with a 24-6 record.

"We are very excited about Dwight," Taylor said. "He is a local product with high character that will give us the ability to space the floor with his shooting ability. He has good size and a very good feel for the game. He will have an immediate impact both on and off the floor for our program. "

Ramos was also named first-team all-Hacienda League for the second time in his career following his senior season.

"Dwight Ramos is one of the hardest working players that I've had the honor of coaching," Walnut High School head coach Joe Khouzman said. "He has an innate feel for the game that very few players have. Dwight's a classic example of hard work paying off."

As a junior in 2015, Ramos was named to the All-CIF-Southern Section 2015-16 Boys Basketball Division 1A Second Team, and helped the Mustangs to the Hacienda League championship. In addition, Ramos was a two-time all-area selection. He averaged 20.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game as a junior.

Michael Wang| 6’7" Forward | Class of 2018 | Mater Dei, Santa Ana, California
NCAA D1 offers: Texas A&M, San Jose State

But on the court was Mater Dei's latest promising newcomer, 6-foot-7 1/2 Michael Wang (pronounced Wong). McKnight said Wang is originally from China, is 13 years old and has lots of potential. Wang likes to shoot from outside. - LA Times

Michael Wang (dynamic passer) - Joel Francisco, ESPN

    Kobey Lam (Ketavong)| 6’1" Guard| Class of 2018 | St. Michael's, Toronto, ON, Canada
    • Youngest player on an OFSAA championship roster
    • Future All-Canadian (U-16), 3 point shoot-out (2nd place)

"Dodo" Dai Hao (China) | Guard | Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Spain.
“We hope that Dai Hao has an important role because, in addition to this talent, he has many different skills that are going to help our team not only because he scores but also because he can dish balls to his teammates thanks to his court vision”, Brisson explains and adds: “It can be noticed that he is in an Academy because those practice hours everyday makes him be at the level of the older players than him”.

On the other hand, Canarian coach is surprised by “his commitment to be a part of the group, something that has been seen in the previous two calls before this Championship, though the language handicap”. - Rafael Briss, U14 Canarian Coach

"He also has lead this selection in Huelva: “Dodo began highlighting since the initiation of the championship (38 efficiency points in his first match), due to this, the rest of the teams we have played with have defended him really hard. However, as at the semifinal like in the fight for the bronze, he became the team guide, getting all the responsibility and pulling from the team when the matches were more difficult. In the last game, not only he drove us to the extra-time, he also was decisive at the last minutes” - U14 coach, Samuel Sosa.

Bertram Mak| 6’6" Forward/Center| Class of 2015| Mark Keppel High School, Alhambra, CA
    • Cal Poly Pomona, Pomona, CA (NCAA Division II)

Skilled wing with good handle, good passer, high IQ, good shooter off the dribble, nice touch around the rim, shoots the 3, runs the floor, plays hard. - Hoop Review
He has all the tools. He can dribble, pass, post and shoot. That’s why whatever college gets him, his ceiling will be very high. That’s why some of the college scouts who come out and watch him are amazed. He does everything.” - Hung Duong, Mark Keppel Coach

OPINION: Those high school years may be great, and by all means savor them -- but remember to keep looking ahead, young people.

                    Johnny Juzang
                    6'6"
Class of 2020 - Top 25 ESPN Rank

College offers: Alabama, Arizona State University (ASU), University of Southern California (USC)

Juzang is a long, quick athlete who continues to grow physically. Juzang has length with a fluid jump shot to compliment a solid skill set for his age. What quickly stands out with this prospect is his ability to get into the rim, shoot with length. Strong wing prospect to watch for the next upcoming years. ~ 2015 West Coast Elite Jr. Camp

Scouting report on Kobe Paras at the Adidas Nations:

adidas Nations Scouting Reports: Wing Prospects
                          August 11, 2015
                          Mike Schmitz

                          Strengths:
-Excellent physical profile. 6' 7” with a strong frame (upper and lower body) and long arms.
-Bouncy athlete. Good first step. Can play above the rim with ease.
-Very good shooter, especially when he's able to step into it. Shows potential as a shooter off the bounce. Footwork isn't great but he's able to create space off the bounce. Uses step backs. Throws ball in basket
-Shot 27/73 (37%) for 3 and 55/71 (71%) from the free throw line this summer in 21 adidas event games.
-Can straight line drive. Comfortable with the ball in his hands.
-Has the tools to be very good defensively.
-Has plenty of upside to continue to develop into a versatile all-around player

                          Weaknesses:
-Average passer who has room to improve on his feel for the game. Almost always looking to score. Loves to isolate and force up off balance jumpers. Tunnel vision while he's on the move. Throws up wild layups.
-Average finisher around the basket. Lacks a degree of toughness and physicality.
-Shot just 47% for 2 this summer in 21 adidas event games.
-Has some edge to him but not always in a positive way. Talks a lot of trash.
-Comfortable, but not an advanced ball handler.
-Needs to improve his footwork off the bounce. Every pull up is into a jump stop rather than a 1-2.
-Jump shot can be a little streaky. Flings the ball at the rim from time to time.
-Not always engaged defensively. Can do a better job bending his knees and sitting down in a stance.

                          Outlook:
Paras, who came to the US two years ago, is the son of Benjie Paras, a famous basketball player, TV actor and movie star in the Philippines. He has the physical profile, athleticism and shooting ability of a high-major wing, and potentially a NBA prospect. He can score at all three levels, finish above the rim and has the tools to be a very good defender. The UCLA commit, however, has a long way to go in terms of playing the game the right way and fitting into a team scheme. He does a lot of things that may earn him a very short leash very quickly under head coach Steve Alford. With that said, if Paras is willing to put in the work and can find a way to think the game at a higher level and become more of a team player, he has a chance to be a high-level player in the Pac-12 and set himself up for a successful future beyond the college ranks., possibly in the NBA depending on how his skill-set evolves
                          .

Lee is a young point guard who stays active on both sides of the ball. He has a tight handle and plays very good off-ball defense, preventing his man from receiving the ball in dangerous positions. Lee is also very vocal from the point, and is looked to as a leader on the floor. ~ Edgar Walker (DMVElite News)
