Russia Federation named 16 players to start the training camp for the WC team on May 23.

    Guards

    Kseniya Levchenko
    Viktoriya Zavyalova
    Margarita Dukhina
    Anna Burovaya
    Anasatsiya Kuplinova
    Veronika Varlamova

    Forwards

    Tatyana Sema
    Elizaveta Krymova
    Raisa Musina
    Kamilla Ogun
    Darya Kolosovskaya
    Olga Aksenova
    Elizaveta Bratchikova

    Centers

    Zhosselina Majga
    Aleksandra Kirina
    Kseniya Kuzmina

Kolosovskaya is the 2014 U18 European champ and tournament's MVP, along with All-Tournament Sema. Musina won the 2014 U16 Euro title and was named All-Tournament. Other notables are Levchenko, Zavyalova, Ogun and Majga.
But the biggest omission is 16-year old sensation Mariya Vadeeva (a 190 cm center), the 2014 U16 Euro MVP, who is already starring with the Sr NT. She probably will play in the 2nd half of June at the EuroBasket Women and if healthy will be added on time to the U19 team. Vadeeva is perhaps the world's top player of her age-class.

Ali Patberg replaces injured Asia Durr in US team.

Patberg, a Notre Dame 2015 recruit, performed enough well at the trials to be named as an alternate, while Asia Durr was already injured but made the team, mainly because she's been a mainstay in the U17/U16 champion teams. Durr had already been replaced by Erin Boley in the 3x3 U18 team that finished 2nd at the WC last month.

It's obviously not good news for the team, displaying a thin backcourt and already missing some big names, first of all Brianna Turner.

French team is in Serbia for its final prep stage, where it played local U18 selection and surpsingly lost 43-42.
Clarisse Legrand and Louise Dambach were the only French scoring in double digits. For Serbia Katanic topped all scorers with 15 pts.
France's is a strange roster, missing some fine U18 players like Ornella Bankole and Lisa Berkani, among others.

Argentina, Russia and host Spain played a prep tournament in Zaragoza. Russia won, as expected, finishing 3-0. Great stars, young phenom center Maria Vadeeva (who has just competed for Russia Sr NT at EuroBasket) and Angela Salvadores, Spain.

                  Results:

                  Spain-Argentina 68-66, OT box score
                  Russia-Argentina 78-52
                  Spain-Russia 58-67 box score

Also Kia Nurse would be eligible for this age group, but no surprise that she's not playing.

Big tournament in Spain next week with the US, Australia, and Canada joining the hosts.

It's so true about Nurse, that she already was with Sr NT last year and also skipped the U18 Americas qualifier.

In the meantime US team scrimmaged the Pan Am squad twice winning once 74-68 and then losing 73-70. Not bad for the teeanagers, or maybe some warning for the older team ?

Noticed from USA Basketball team photo that Katie Lou Samuelson is missing.
It's unclear whether it's another WC team casualty (after Asia Durr) or she will join later. The team should be on travel to Europe for the scheduled Spain tournament.

                              France final roster:

                              Camille CIRGUE 187 cm
                              Mathilde COMBES 185
                              Louise DAMBACH 175
                              Rose DUCRET 169
                              Alizée GIRARDET 170
                              Clarisse LEGRAND 182
                              Marylie LIMOUSIN 160
                              Victoria MAJEKODUNMI 171
                              Leslie MAKOSSO 161
                              Marie Michelle MILAPIE 191
                              Catherine MOSENGO-MASA 190
                              Angelina TURMEL 197

All 1996-born, Dambach, Cirgue, Combes and Milapie should be the team's most representative.
This roster showed disappointing performance in the pre-tournament friendlies.

In the first friendly of Spanish tournament, USA edged Australia 85-82 behind Aja Wilson 30 pts & 11 reb.
Very likely the usual tough rivalry between two women's b'ball powers.
                                Waiting for the b.s.
