  • 2015 U16 European Championship

One thing all the sons of famous players seem to have in common is genetic predisposition. One thing 6'9" Koprivica jr and 6'8" Pecarski jr also have is talent. Although they will be one year younger than most of the competition, both are expected to be Serbia's frontcourt force at the 2015 U16 European Championship.

Bosnia U16 and Croatia U16 played two friendlies against each other in Sarajevo. Both teams played without several main players (notably NBA prospect Kresimir Nikic on one side and Sikiras on the other). One noteworthy detail is the presence of 6'8" Dejan Marjanac (2000) who played for Serbia U15 ealier this season on the Bosnian roster. He's not a big deal, though.

In Game 1, hosts won 99:95
      Bosnia : Stojsic 2, Ivankovic 2, Jankovic 15, Radan 1, Cerkezović 10, Campara 21, Musa 45, Ovcina 3.
      Croatia : Jordano 8, Vidovic 10, Jularic 17, Saric 2, Mihalic 9, Nakic 17, Omrcen 2, Vrgoc 3, Bajo 18, Dubroja 4, Balinic 4.

In Game 2, guests won 110:74
      Bosnia : Stojsic 2, Ivankovic 9, Sabljic 2, Jankovic 1, Radan 4, Sertovic 5, Cerkezovic 10, Campara 15, Musa 26.
      Croatia : Jordano 17, Vidovic 5, Jularic 2, Saric 17, Mihalic 12, Nakic 12, Omrcen 10, Vrgoc 19, Jankovic 2, Bajo 14.

Njegos Sikiras last year's decision to pick Bosnia over Serbia is all the more incomprehensible in light of the fact that a dozen members of his wider family have been savagely killed by the Bosnian Muslim army in May 1992 in the village of Grahoviste near Sarajevo.

France's Jaylen Hoard (16 pts) and Bosnia's Njegos Sikiras (14 pts) named co-MVP at the Jordan Brand International game yesterday.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — France’s Jaylen Hoard had 16 points, seven rebounds and five steals to lead the White Squad to a 63-58 defeat of the Black Squad in the International Game Friday at the…

Strangely, Hoard isn't in the U16 French team that has started its 2015 international campaign.

Like Spurs' PG Tony Parker and FC Barcelona's SG Edwin Jackson, Jaylen Hoard is another French player whose father is an African American baller who played professionally overseas. His dad Antwon, a former Murray State Racer, spent almost all his entire career in France.

It's also the case for Australians Dante Exum (NBA draftee Cecil Exum) and Ben Simmons (Dave Simmons), or Canadians Andrew Wiggins (former NBAer Mitchell Wiggins), Xavier Rathan-Mayes (former NBAer Tharon Mayes) and Trey Lyles (former NBAer Thomas Lyles).

Ethnic Serb from Bosnia Njegos Sikiras used to part of Serbia's youth national teams program back in 2013 but later decided to flip side on the advice of his former Buducnost Bijeljina coach Dario Cojic whose wife Dragana was later invited by the Basketball Federation of Bosnia to visit United States as part of a traineeship for Bosnian coaches.

Greece won the Bellegarde tournament last weekend, beating Turkey, Czech Republic and host France. All clear wins for Greek kids, except a close game with Turkey (63-61). Other Greece results, 73-58 vs Cze and 63-40 vs Fra.
Final standing: Gre (3-0), Fra (2-1), Tur (1-2), Cze (0-3).

For Greeks excelled Kambouridis, the team's high scorer, top rebounder Virlas and Giannaras.

Europians looked promising in game. Liked Moraitis, Sikiras and Santos most.

For Croatia I guess we have nice prospects in 99. Besides hyped Nikic who is big prospect for future for sure. Bajo shows great potential. Looked like monster, but must work on his skills and game alot. Intresting comentators said scouts tallk he has most long term upside out there

                        Jordi Bertomeu sucks!

Serbia will play with Slovenia and Bosnia & Herzegovina at the Travnik (BiH) tournament on May 8-10.

                            Serbia roster of 16 players:

As expected, without most of our best abroad-playing ballers (Koprivica, Pavicevic, Marjanovic, Nikolic, Jovicic, etcetera).

Notwithstanding that, Nenad Trunic's first selection seems to have more upside potential than Dejan Mijtovic's one which played earlier this season at the U16 International Tournament of Konya, especially on point guard (Skoric & Virijevic) and power forward positions (Pecarski, Kovacevic & Komazec).

Despite not being named MVP, 6'8 combo forward Bogdan Nedeljkovic ('00) had an impressive showing at the recent Serbia's U15 Final Tournament held in Kraljevo.

By the way, I've been told a while ago that 6'9" power forward Aleksa Komazec's father Jovica is a distant cousin of retired croatian national team player Arijan.
