  • That was my prediction 9th June 2014 even the team was announced:

    Turkey:
    Round of 16 - Minimum
    Quarter Final - Realistic Target
    Semi Final - Great
Final - Dancing on the streets
Championship - Wake up man it is morning

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

I am really happy what we achieved with this roster. They did their best with their capacities. Now next year's European Championship is the start of our generations. Something like 1999 European Championship. If you remember our team was like that:

    1999 European Championship Turkey Roster:

    Hidayet Türkoğlu - 1979 / 20
    İbrahim Kutluay - 1974 / 25
    Mehmet Okur - 1979 / 20
    Mirsad Türkcan - 1976 / 23
    Ufuk Sarıca - 1972 / 27
    Hüseyin Beşok - 1975 / 24
    Tamer Oyguç - 1966 / 33
    Haluk Yıldırım - 1972 / 27
    Murat Konuk - 1972 / 27
    Kerem Tunçeri - 1979 / 20
    Cüneyt Erden - 1977 / 22
    Asım Pars - 1976 / 23

Very young team and played really good basketball. I am expecting a similar team roster for next year.

PG: Kenan Sipahi (95/20), Berk Ugurlu (96/19), Tolga Gecim (96/19), Dogus Balbay (89/26)
SG: Cedi Osman (95/20), Furkan Korkmaz (97/18), Sinan Guler (83/32), Melih Mahmutoglu (90/25)
SF: Emir Preldzic (87/28), Cenk Akyol (87/28), Okben Ulubay (96/19)
PF: Ersan Ilyasova (87/28), Ilkan Karaman (90/25), Metecan Birsen (95/20)
C: Omer Asik (86/29), Enes Kanter (92/23), Furkan Aldemir (91/24), Emircan Kosut (95/20), Oguz Savas (87/28)

Bold ones, who I predict can make the team next year. If Berk can go to a team where he can take minutes then he might have chance otherwise I will prefer Dogus Balbay over him for next year. Furkan Korkmaz is a great shooter and Okben Ulubay is an all around player. Despite their ages they should be in the team next year.
Go Efes Pilsen - Go Turkey

    • I don't like Furkan Aldemir. I don't think he can be a part of the NT anymore. Oğuz Savaş would be much better as an offensive weapon. Furkan is nothing at offense and we won't need his defensive skills (?) and rebounds anymore while we have Ömer Aşık and Enes Kanter.

They say Semih Erden is training very hard. We can see Semih Erden next year.

      • I'm not sure about Kenan but I'm sure that Berk Ugurlu would be able to show his skills on this level. He is a PURE PG which is rare to find nowadays.

          • Wow, I completely forgot this game, I just remembered we also joined 2014 World Cup but I forgot what we did (quarterfinals surprised).

I doubt we can replicate the quarterfinals in 2019, only if we get lucky in the draw again.
