Odd that the host was selected not through bidding this time. FIBA being ridiculous as always.

I rather choose South korea or Singapore as host or even India for Asian Championships than China again.

    This is stupid.

No bidding? China's too damn desperate to go to the Olympics. They should try to beat Taiwan's team B first

Then let's destroy them so bad they will not want to claim the Spratlys EVER AGAIN.

Remember 2014 FIBA Asia Cup! We beat them at their home court, we can do that again!

    LABAN PILIPINAS! PUSO!

With the way Gilas played in the world cup, I'm very optimistic of our chances.

Is there any chance they can change the hosts? China is more than capable of hosting this event, but they have already hosted it a good number of times the past decade or so. I'd love for UAE or South Korea to host this event.

FIBA's ban on Japan hasn't been lifted in time, I see. I feel sad for Japan right now, but I know they will come back stronger in the next FIBA Asia and the upcoming FIBA WC Asia-Pacific Qualifiers.
Me when Gilas finished dead last in the World Cup and Wesley So won a Chess championship for the United States instead of the Philippines:

Sige basketball pa, kulelat naman sa World Cup. Kaya tayo ipinagpalit ni Wesley So sa Amerika eh.

Are we Filipinos still on about basketball when we finished dead last at the World Cup? No wonder Wesley So left us for the States.

Okay, let's discuss power rankings. Here's 2015 Asian basketball power rankings by me.

I don't feel comfortable placing the teams in exact positions, so instead I put them into tiers of four.

    Tier 1
    Iran
    South Korea
    China
    Philippines

    Tier 2
    Chinese Taipei / Taiwan
    Qatar
    Kazakhstan
    Lebanon

    Tier 3
    Jordan
    Japan
    India
    Kuwait

    Tier 4
    Palestine
    Malaysia
    Singapore
    Hong Kong

    Singapore
    Hong Kong
Chinese Taipei should be at Tier 1, because we won Philippines & China at your home game last time.
Also Lebanon is coming strong this year, so they could just count for Tier 1 as well.
Qatar Japan Jordan Kazakhstan they all in the Tier 2, and I think they all have chance to beat Tier 1 teams.
In Tier 3, the dark horse I believe is Palestine. India & Hong Kong & Kuwait also in the Tier 3.
The last two teams Malaysia may just a bit better than Singapore.

so the 4 semifinalist last year deserve to be in tier 1 in tier 2, since Lebanon rank is too high to be ignored, Kazakhstan by virtue of 8th place finish and lower fiba ranking be in tier 3 with Japan and India solid teams also.. Tier 4 are just happy to play with their asian idols except for Palestine who will be the Group of death maker in this tournament..
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..

Oh, another thing. Some say that the Philippines' chances of getting to the Olympics rests on Blatche. They say that with Blatche we're in Tier 1, without him we're in Tier 2. What do you think?
