Amazing block by Watanabe on Mike Crawford's three pointer hope to preserve GW's win over St. Louis. In this game, Watanabe drained two triples.

If Paras ends up at UC Irvine, he's more than likely to see Chris Tang than Yuta in the Big West Conference.
From what I have heard, Paras is committing himself to UCLA, though. So what would be the chances of him and Watanabe meeting in the US NCAA?

Chances are still higher for UCR vs UCLA because of the conferences/regions. UCLA played UCR already this season as well. They've also played Sacramento State in past years, which is the school Taiwanese Jeff Wu is committed to.

UCLA is in the Pac-12, while GW is in the A-10. It all depends on scheduling, perhaps it could happen in the pre-season or invitational tournament. The last chance would be in the NCAA tournament aka "March Madness".

Thank you very much. Looking forward to Watanabe joining the Japanese team in the future.

He was included in 2013 Japanese team. He guarded Larry Fonacier and was guarded by RDO on the other side. He was still very raw and always looked like he will fall down/trip on his own feet. With his exposure to american basketball, he will only get better.

Page Not Found (404): It looks like you're lost... The page you are looking for no longer exists.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - GW men's basketball freshman Yuta Watanabe collected his second Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honor of the season as the conference office announced the final weekly awards of 2014-15 on Monday.

Watanabe led GW to a 2-0 final week of the A-10 regular season with a team-best 13.5 points on 53 percent (8-15) shooting, including 64 percent (7-11) behind the arc, along with 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists.

The 6-foot-8 forward from Kagawa, Japan, hit seven three-pointers en route to a career-high 21 points in an 87-65 rout of UMass on Saturday. The seven threes tied the second-most in a game in program history and matched the second-most by a conference player and most by an A-10 freshman this season.

Watanabe is the first GW player to earn multiple Rookie of the Week awards in the same season since eventual A-10 All-Rookie Team selection Lasan Kromah earned three in 2009-10. He is also the sixth A-10 freshman to earn multiple Rookie of the Week accolades this season

I'm glad that Watanabe is getting that stride and confidence back after struggling in most of January. Japan NT head coach Kenji Hasegawa is following his games through tape.
