"Definitely no regrets. Kasi 'di porke't sinacrifice ko 'yung isang bagay, magiging successful ako dito sa isa," he continued
Stuff like this is partially why I want Kai to succeed, he’s right because sure he might not have succeeded in BWB but it still doesn’t mean you don’t try. BWB pays for expenses of travel so it wouldn’t have cost him. It’s not just Padrigao specifically but more Filipino kids don’t go abroad because they don’t think they can succeed and that mentality needs to change
Perhaps some people don't realize this but Kai Sotto has somewhat been depriving himself to enjoy his youth because he has to train as a basketball player. I mean, those rigorous training in the US keeps him from living a "normal" life of a teenager. Its hard doing those skills training, scrimmages, weight lifting knowing that your contemporaries are partying with pretty girls."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Kai Sotto, who seeks to become the first Filipino-born player to reach the NBA, has come a long way since deciding to train in the United States
“Hindi ako nauna," Sotto said, referring to other Filipinos who have played in the US. "Pero mauna ako para ipakita sa mga kapwa ko na mga Pilipino na kaya din nilang gawin kahit na hindi sila kasing tangkad ko."
(I wasn't the first. But I want to be the first to show to other Filipino players that they can make it here even if they're not as tall as me.)

Shower thought question: should we also start considering SJ Belangel? It's a shame he's below 6 feet thought.

Tungcab
De Liaño Bros.
Dwight
Ildefonso
Kouame
If this is the cadet team moving forward, there is a glaring hole on the 4 spot. I hope Kai is available for some tourneys that he could form some chemistry with this team.
Adding Paras, Oftana, Navarro, maybe Cariño, could provide the much needed ceiling. Baltazar would be ideal but it's a long shot being with La Salle. Any other non PBA bigs we could tap to train with the cadets?Never look too far ahead. You might stumble on a block right in front of you.

Originally posted by robert0326But the target is this year's preparation.. rike and santillan has more availability than tamayo.. tamayo will play for NU seniors this year so availability will be question.. while rike and santillan are available and no other commitments in other league.. we need them to complete the line up for the preparation for the future.. especially no more available players at amateur level for forward spot..

On Rike and Santillan, I prefer high ceiling guys. They could be there as warm bodies a la Mike Nieto but in the end I see no place for them in the 2023 scheme of things.Never look too far ahead. You might stumble on a block right in front of you.
