Russia didn't get a EuroBasket medal for the first time in 14 years. They're also out for 2014 World Championship. The coach - Alfredas Vainauskas - is being harshly criticized right now. Everyone expected Russia to stay strong in the competition; all of the Russian media personnel packed three weeks worth of clothing, all the basketball experts predicted Russia to be one of the top 3 teams in the EuroBasket. And then everything suddenly collapsed with the 6-point win against Italy, when Russia should've won by 7 to advance to the next round and the Russian players allowed a two-pointer thinking that they needed 6 points to advance... And now there's this whole debate about who's to blame for the fiasco: Vainauskas or players? Anyone care to weigh in on the issue?

- And yet the objective reasons that prevented the team to show everyone what she's capable, enough, agree?
- It is difficult to argue. Could not help the team Danilochkina recognized MVP last European Championship (in the near future plans to give birth to the defender. - Comm. VM). Tragically, injury requiring surgical intervention, Olga Arteshina. Maria Stepanova, cemented the game with the national team 17 years, completed the play for the national team. For various reasons, have missed several more top basketball players.

Another example-
A foreign colleague asked Vaynauskas at a press conference to talk about the absence of the Russian national team point guard has been underway for about ten years, so really all this time the whole vast country is not able to prepare a more or less corresponding to the European level basketball players this role?
The answer - no, not in the state. Talents in Russia has long been punched, not because but in spite of the system of training. And with the departure from the forefront of the golden generation brought Kira Trzheskal seems to have finally ended the golden era of our women's basketball ...

The most likely reason, the one i tend to agree with -taken from interview with E Gomelsky-
Back in December, I openly declared that the purpose of the women's national team Alfredas Vaynauskasa - a huge mistake leaders of the federation. And now, in France, we all saw what is this Lithuanian specialist. Although how could it be otherwise? Coach should have weight in the eyes of the players, referees, opponents. A Vaynauskas sufficient authority for such a demanding job did not have, because so far nothing serious in his career has not achieved.

Russia's youth teams have had mediocre results for a while, and their players are limited to playing supporting roles in the Euroleague. It's a surprise that they went out in the first round, but not a surprise that they are in decline IMO.Originally posted by FedfanMost ppl get childish when they lose.Originally posted by GuTOrefs in games of Spain walks with literally poop in his pants afraid of the Spanish players

Foreign coach?Lithuanian?Yes,please. But why did they chose our second or third option?
Paulauskas is as Kazlauskas in women basketball.
They picked Butautas ala Vainauskas. And let that be a lesson to you all. Nobody beats Zalgiris 17 times in a row.

Serbia is definitely the biggest surprise, it's enough to say that our best result in the last 10 years was eight place and fifth since the breakup of Yugoslavia. Interesting is that our coach Marina Maljković is the only female coach at this EC. Everyone was talking that our only goal at this EC was to reach second phase and nothing more, since we have 7 players for whom this was their first competition and the results were expected only at the forthcoming tournaments.
We even started this EC badly, lost against GB at the start after leading 3/4 of the match ( 9–24 last qt), then came France with 32-76 haha, they really looked weak in those matches and now they look like totally different team.
In the qf match two min before the end Italy had 79:74 (they had 60% for 3pt), and the final result is 85:79! Just fantastic! Now with Spain in sf i expect easy win for Spain, i see they were very dominant through the EC and i would be more than satisfied if we finish under -10, everything above that would be a miracle. This is the age we are currently living in, where war is peace, ignorance is strength and slavery is freedom.

Frida Eldebrink is SICKKKKKK
EDIT: Make that both the Eldebrink sisters. Unfortunately the refs screwed Sweden all game long, because as we all know FIBA loves to screw 'new' countries where basketball can grow, because they are oh so smart.
Prediction: 1. Spain 2. France 3. TurkeyLast edited by UMUT_FB_LAL; 06-27-2013, 07:44 PM.THE NBA IS FAKE

Simple Spain was dominant in every way, second half was much better than first, obviously we lack experience at this level and we really can't cope with teams such as Spain, which has big height and physical advantage. I don't expect much in the match for third place, this team can benefit a lot from playing against strong opponents. This is the age we are currently living in, where war is peace, ignorance is strength and slavery is freedom.

Not too impressed by France. Not only did the decisions from the referees help them 70-30, just like against Sweden, but every time that they rightfully got a whistle against them they immediately started to whine. Game started 12-2, impressive fight from Turkey to get back to 51-49, but throughout the game we couldn't capitalize on playing well enough and we barely rewarded ourselves. France won with free throws that they got easily. Nevertheless I'm proud of this performance, third straight great tournament for the Turkish ladies, hopefully we can decorate it with a medal. Standout performance from Esmeral Tuncluer, not really sure why we got Quanitra instead of Nevin Nevlin. Quanitra is a half decent rebounder and defender and that's it. Last year she played bad against Russia in the quarter-finals and was the reason we lost, and today the same thing happened.THE NBA IS FAKE
