Watching the dumb ass Pelicans botch this Anthony Davis thing is gonna be hilarious. They trade Mirotic and planned on shelving a healthy Davis for the rest of the season in order to prevent his injury and be in full tank mode. The NBA stepped in and said I don’t think so. Now they have to play one of the best players in the league in a lame duck scenario and can’t even lose when they want to. You can’t make it up. But that’s what happens when anger clouds your judgement. Mark my words and remember the offer the Lakers made for Davis. Ainge will never trade Tatum for a rental, the team that wins the Zion lottery also won’t trade him for a rental, and that will leave the Pelicans eventually trading him for a far weaker package.

This is indeed very strange, but NO is kinda screwed up on both sides now. What if they play Davis for 5 mins per game? or in a five with 4 centers?

    Hello everyone,,
The Pelicans just unveiled their new uniforms.
I've been a fan of Tyreke. Guy's got one of the sickest handles in the league. The Pelicans will be a very interesting team to watch. Without a legit center, Davis might have to man the middle next season, which I think he's very much capable of doing. Holiday and Gordon is a top-3 backcourt tandem in my opinion. Finally found a decent Tyreke Evans pic wearing Pelicans color. Head coach Monty Williams said that Tyreke will be utilized off the bench (in which Evans also said that he was cool with it) and depending on situations....

Gm David Griffin is now knocking LeBron James and his time in Cleveland. The sad part of this is that due to his friends in the media this buffoon is going to get away with it. Who is David Griffin ? An absolute nobody who hasn’t accomplished anything. LeBron called the shots in Cleveland regarding player personnel that resulted in their unprecedented success and Griffin didn’t like it because he gets no credit in it. Yeah that’s because he didn’t deserve any. The only move he made was hiring the disaster that was David Blatt as coach. Now he’s saying that he wanted out of Cleveland after they won the title.
What a phony liar. He was trying to resign there as a GM but the notoriously cheap when it comes to front office salaries owner Dan Gilbert lowball offered him so he walked. Lucky for him some other no name franchise that hasn’t accomplished anything in their history gave him a job. Let’s see how he does now. You can probably bet the farm that he will fired rather than that team ever doing anything in the playoffs.

I am trying to figure on why that punk David Griffin who was put on the map because of LeBron James would come out with such statements and then it became obvious to me. It’s all about the Anthony Davis trade. He’s bitter that he couldn’t talk Davis into reconsidering his trade demand and instead stay in New Orleans with him. He couldn’t sell it and close the deal so he’s angry. Probably also angry that he got a guy with a blood disorder, a guy who couldn’t hit the ocean with a basketball, and some draft picks in the 20’s for a great talent like Davis. Kind of pokes a serious hole in Griffins statement that players don’t want to play with LeBron now doesn’t it. A great player like Anthony Davis actually chose that over you you idiot.

Cavs GM Griffin and Heat gm Riley people who built around Lebron James championship teams was/is unhappy with James and his people around him.Durant called it toxic, true la boys Leonard and George didn't wanted no part with Lakers and went to little brother clippers...but who the hell are they to dear to tell something wrong about king right?

Lebrons teams leaded by those gms sacrificed all their future of next 5 years, took bad contracts for those playoofs runs in order get some solid veterans to help those teams and still LeBron left them when boat begun to sink.Same will happen with Lakers, it's already obviuos they gave everything for Davis and he will want out after 2-3 years seeing in what bad situation lakers will end up after 2 playoofs runs and LeBron at age of 37-38...

Anyone who puts David Griffin in the same breath with Pat Riley needs to have their heads examined.
Seems to me it was David Griffin who left in 2017 not LeBron. He stayed with another GM and took another team to the Finals. Those are just inconvenient facts. Like I said a LeBron built that team and led it to greatness. He tried having his GM do it the first time around in his 7 years in Cleveland and that just led him to be surrounded by garbage. He orchestrated the move to Miami. He Wade and Bosh got together and made it happen. I love Pat Riley but he gets way too much credit for that. Look when a player has dominated the league like Lebron has there is s lot of jealousy that’s expected.
I understand it. But when someone like Griffin who If it wasn’t for LeBron returning to Cleveland only his mother would know who he was takes shots it gets a little ridiculous. He has no pedigree, he has no resume. He’s a nobody, He should shut the f up.

Keep singing that song and eventually you’ll start believing it.
    Everything =
a guy with a blood disease. Has anybody seen Chris Bosh lately ?
a guy who looks like he started taking jump shots yesterday it looks so bad
Draft picks in the 20’s that are meaningless.

And if you notice, the Lakers unlike most dumb teams only make signings for very short term contracts. That will always enable them to team up Anthony Davis with another superstar no matter what LeBron does.

Chris Paul, Anthony Davis and Zion Williamson if he’s lucky enough to be a player of that caliber all walked from New Orleans and he will too. But wait it’s different now. The great Griffin is running the show things will be different.
He has such a great long history of building teams. He’s great at picking coaches too. See David Blatt.
    This is gonna be funny.

Please tell me what bad contract Miami signed to placate LeBron and sacrificed their future. The answer is none. All the bad Miami contracts came after LeBron left (Lull Deng and others). The team collapsed because they lost the best player in the world. It’s not a very difficult concept to understand. As for Cleveland just mentioning them as having a future is hilarious in itself, because they had no past for 40 years before LeBron and will never have any after him. That’s just because they are Cleveland. They are just lucky that LeBron happened to be born near there and was motivated to bring them a title or they never would have won one in 1000 years.

The New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans have had some awful teams in the almost 20 years they’ve been around but none of those teams managed to lose 12 in a row like this pathetic bunch. Hard to understand how that’s possible with the “genius” media darling Griffin running the show. But I am not surprised at all. He’s never really accomplished anything. The fact that he kept Gentry around and didn’t immediately fire him when he took over and bring in his own hire like most competent GMS would do says a lot as well. Look back at post #74 in this thread from 4+ years ago to see how I predicted this hiring would go. Zion Williamson will help this sorry franchise when he finally plays but much like Anthony Davis when he gets the chance he will run out of town as fast as he can.

At least the Pelicans, like most of the rest of the league, are trying to built a winning team up... To me and most people this matters most than the circuses like the Lakers. or the Clippers, or the Rockets, that are trying to buy a championship, after having failed to build one up...

Wow there are some naive little fellas running around this forum. In what league are championship teams predominantly built within and not bought. Other than the NBA of course. Would that be the Euroleague ? The Greek basketball league ? The Greek football league ? Or just about any other professional sports league in the world ?

The Lakers were found guilty for violating the NBA rules of trade in the investigation that the NBA commission ordered and were penalized by some M of $ for the AD trade... remember?

It's different to add a free agent with having a player who was drafted by another team asking to be traded on another specific team because his agent (Clatch co. of which L.James is a share holder) demanded so...

But more than that, it's extremely stupid of "fans" of circuses to try bashing out teams like the Pels on top.

I live in the real world in not some fairy tale land. Teams like the Pels have no chance. Just like 90% of teams in just about every league in the world regardless of sport. Agents can’t demand anything. The player hires the agent not the other way around. It cracks me up how LeBron haters make it seem like he steered AD towards LA. He fired his agent and hired that specific agent because that’s where Anthony Davis wanted to be. But back to the main point it’s just the reality of the situation. These teams as you will personally see when Giannis walks as well don’t get to keep the superstar and inevitably don’t win the big prize. The examples of this are countless. The San Antonio model is an anomaly. And that too was going to explode after only one title in the summer of 2000 when Duncan was all but out the door when GM/Coach Doc Rivers of Orlando bungled the deal by not allowing Duncan’s family to travel on the team plane for road trips.
