This is a good call as players who will be playing in the KBL finals mid April will need some time off. Favorites like Ulsan who has Yang Dong-Geun and Seoul SK with Kim Sun-Hyung are projected to meet in the finals.
Korea's lucky. The Philippine team will only start practicing mid-July

    • Lee Sang-Beom, the head coach of Anyang KGC and Yoo Jae-Hak's assistant coach for the national team told the press that he fully supports Kim Tae-Sol's decision whether or not to play for the national team this summer as Kim, has been playing with lingering injuries this season. Lee also added that he is not holding back KGC's Oh Se-Keun from participating if Oh is chosen once again.

      • It is reported that the KBA is seeking a tuneup match against a wildcard team sometime in July.

The four wildcard teams are Greece, Finland, Turkey and Brazil. I think Greece and Turkey will not be interested but the likelihood of Brazil is also shallow. Maybe Finland will accept.

        • Yoo Jae-Hak revealed in today's interview with the press that the KBA is planning to hire foreign scouts to do their homework for the upcoming World Cup and Asian Games. Names will not be publicized but will be finalized late February and after a week long briefing, will travel abroad beginning in March. Contract is from February to September.

            • From the 2013 national team, the following have been afflicted by injuries the most:

              Kim Joo-Sung - PF / C
              Lee Seung-Jun - PF / C
              Yoon Ho-Young - SF / PF
              Kim Tae-Sol - PG

Since the KBA will submit the same pool to FIBA and the Incheon Asian Games organizers, players with injuries sustained from the World Cup or deemed not healthy enough to be productive in the Asian games will be replaced by healthy bodies. It works the other way if example Kim Joo-Sung is not healthy enough for the world cup, could be rested and be activated when it really counts in the Asian Games.

              Scenario replacements could be:

              Kim Joo-Sung = Oh Se-Keun, Lee Seung-Hyun, Jang Jae-Seok,
              Lee Seung-Jun = Oh Se-Keun, Lee Seung-Hyun, Jang Jae-Seok, Moon Tae-Young
              Yoon Ho-Young = Yang Hee-Jong, Choi Jin-Soo, Chang Min-Kug
              Kim Tae-Sol = Park Chan-Hee, Kim Si-Rae, Doo Kyung-Min, Park Jae-Hyun

                • Federation has asked Yoo Jae-Hak and his assistants to name a designated naturalize player for the world cup and Asian games by the end of the KBL season. Names to choose from are:

                  Lee Seung-Jun (Wonju Dongbu Promy)

                  • Kim Min-Goo played KCC's final game of the season and finished with 27 points, 4 assists and 5 rebounds to cap off a stellar year where he proved himself as a star. After the game, Min-Goo was interviewed in the post-game panel and he stated that he is looking for a well deserved vacation for a month and plans to show up early for training camp with the national team.

                      • Andre Brown is not willing for now. While Rod Benson, Yoo Jae-Hak said that he is not the player that Korea needs.

                          • For Kim Joo-Sung, nothing is certain. He did admit last year that this is his last Asian games. But it seems a possibility that the last call of duty is for 2015 FIBA Asia. As for Oh Se-Keun, he is only 26 and is due for the armed forces duty that has a military sports team tenure in the Sang-Moo team that makes him available for this year and 2015.

                            • There has been talk of borrowing some of the K-League's concept for national team preparation under FIFA. KBL can segment the weekly rounds into legs to accommodate the impending qualification schedule by FIBA starting in 2017. That means naming a much larger player pool consisting of youth, college and professionals. Unlike the national football team, KBL does not have Koreans playing abroad, not since the days of Ha Seung-Jin, Bang Sung-Yoon and Choi Jin-Soo.

I don't see any difficulties with the KBL or the KUBL academic & sports calendar in adapting what the KBA will address in 2016.

                              • Meeting of the Korean Basketball Association and board members of the KBL have suggested to cut six games from the regular 54 games for next season so it will be less taxing players who will be on the national team. Furthermore, A KBL game will now be 48 minutes much like the NBA compared to 40 minutes similar to FIBA.
