  • Steve Nash and the Los Angeles Lakers

The Steve Nash era has set in Phoenix and now, Nash has joined the Suns' pacific division rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers. Nash signed for three years, presumably the last stop of his career... or is it?

I wonder if Nash will don #13 given that #13 is retired in honor of Wilt Chamberlain.

I am intrigued by this "Showtime" vision by Mike D'Antoni. He wants an free flowing uptempo push by the Lakers. They have the master mind for it in Nash. Lakers have not seen anyone with this passing since the days of Magic Johnson and his original showtime crew.

For one, D'Antoni and Nash are a working tandem as Nash is the catalysts of D'Antoni's seven seconds or less offense back in Phoenix.

Since Howard, Gasol and Hill are out it means more playing time for Robert Sacre. Nash to Sacre plays.

Lakers Searching For Young Point Guard To Help Steve Nash

According to Sam Amico from FOX Sports, the Los Angeles Lakers are looking for a young point guard who can score the ball with ease, due to the fact that Steve Nash can not play as many minutes as the Lakers need him to. Acquiring a reliable point guard may cost the Lakers Pau Gasol, who was recently reported to be on the trade block.

Sam Amico, FOX Sports: Many NBA talent-evaluators feel as if Steve Nash is no longer capable of playing at a high level for more than 15-20 minutes game. The Lakers, it is believed, are on the lookout for a younger point guard who’s a more-potent scorer. But as everyone who deals in the trade market will tell you, that won’t be so easy to obtain.

Nash only managed to play 50 games with the Lakers last season, where he averaged 12.7 points and 6.7 assists per game. The 39-year-old veteran sat out in the second half of the Lakers latest preseason game due to ankle soreness. However, Steve Nash made arguably two of the nicest passes of his Laker career during the preseason game. Nash may not be able to see a ton of consistent action on the floor, but he brings extremely valuable efficiency whenever he is healthy.

One point guard the Lakers are expected to show interest in is Rajon Rondo, who recently claimed to be happy as a Celtic. However, the Lakers may not have enough assets to offer in exchange for Rondo. Another pipe dream for Laker fans may be to acquire point guard Mike Conley from the Memphis Grizzlies, possibly in exchange for Pau Gasol. Although the Grizzlies would love to team up the Gasol brothers, this is yet another unlikely trade scenario due to the lack of point guards on the Grizzlies roster.

Unfortunately for the Lakers, acquiring a talented point guard seems nearly impossible due to the lack of depth the Lakers have to offer in exchange. Nonetheless, history has proven that the Lakers front office should never be slept on.
