Yes, Mazzarino will continue in Cantù

Milano can add one more foreign player, most likely a backup PG. I think they might sign an extra foreign player midway through the season depending on injuries or specific needs.

No Brindisi, Basile signed with Milano.
I wonder how many players they are gonna add now. They still have room for a foreign (European) player...

They say Milano might go for Rok Stipcevic. Thoughts on him?

Any rumours around about Ibby Jaaber?

Quite surprising as Stipcevic was confirmed by Varese in the past weeks (contract expiring on June 2013). But he did sign for a lower salary (last season he earned 300.000 dollars) and was not supposed to be a starter but only the team's 6th man. Apparently Varese is willing to negotiate his transfer to Milano, this means that Milano has to pay a buyout in order to sign him. I think it can be a good deal for both teams and for the player himself. Varese would lose an important player, but as I said not a starter and still one of the highest payed on their roster, plus they would get extra money through his buyout, this could be very helpful in their market strategies as they still have to make several signings. Milano would get a player who already proved his skills in Italy (decent court vision, deadly shooter and good scorer, decent defender too, despite his size) and who appears to fit in fairly well as Cook's complement. Stipcevic would earn more and get the chance to compete in Euroleague.

As for Jaaber, no rumors so far. Sat out the whole 2011-2012 season and currently a free agent, I wonder if he's still active or pursuing other interests...

After confirming Uruguayan sharpshooter Nicolas Mazzarino, Cantù seems to be close to signing Pietro Aradori. The player should have already agreed to terms with the team and he's now negotiating his way-out of Siena. Next player signing with Cantù could be SF/PF Jeff Brooks, a young and very talented guy who's off an intriguing rookie season in LegaDue (Jesi).

Brindisi had an option to extend Craig Callahan's contract but in the end they did not confirm him. Rumors say they should announce the signing of experienced U.S. PF Antywane Robinson (Erdemir) soon.

            - As anticipated a few days ago, Brindisi signed PF Antywane Robinson (Erdemir). Also, they officially confirmed their star SG Jonathan Gibson, whose deal includes an NBA escape expiring on July 25. They're interested in USA/Ita SF Jeff Viggiano, who had a pretty good season in Treviso (11.4 ppg), but he's chased by several other Italian teams.

            - Sassari agreed to terms with veteran Polish PF Michal Ignerski (Lokomotiv Kuban) and with USA/Ita PF/C Dane Diliegro, who had a pretty good rookie season playing in LegaDue with Ostuni (9 ppg + 7 rpg). He will be their backup C. The roster is almost complete, they just need to sign a starting SF, as Quinton Hosley has had a lot of good offers and he's unlikely to stay.

            T.Diener - D.Diener - SF - Ignerski - Easley
            (Pinton, Sacchetti, Devecchi, Vanuzzo, Diliegro)

            - Avellino is interested in SG Dionte Christmas, last season in Greece with AGOR Rethimno (18.6 ppg).

            - Caserta's coach Pino Sacripanti denied any interest in SF Aaron Harper (Levski Sofia). The team seems to be interested in PG Corey Fisher (Antalya).

            - Cantù looking to get deeper inside. They're interested in Angelo Gigli, but he's unlikely to move from Bologna and in Alex Tyus (Maccabi Ashdod), who has an offer from Murcia but seems closer to join Maccabi Tel Aviv, also thanks to his Israeli passport. Andrea Cinciarini really close to leave and sign with Reggio Emilia.

Will Marconato stay with Cantù as well?

Is Reggio Emilia a good situation for Cinciarini to bounce back after a disappointing year?

Any rumours from Roma? I was also wondering- how did Clay Tucker do for them last season? I guess he scored pretty well but there was that saga where he nearly joined Fenerbahce but the team let Dedovic leave instead. Wasn't sure if that was all because of Roma being unstable or because he and the team were underperforming.

                - Yes, Marconato remains in Cantù, currently as the team's third center, besides Scekic and Cusin. One more big man will be added soon, anyway.

                - Reggio Emilia usually is a good place for Italians and young players, so I think it's a good move. The guy is not bad but wasn't ready to play as a starter in a team competing in Euroleague and aiming at the top of the domestic league. Was overwhelmed by pressure, lost confidence and barely saw playing time in the last part of the campaign, although Perkins was also playing bad. Let's say that Trinchieri just didn't get impressed and eventually opted for a different player bringing back Tabu.

                - Roma is facing big financial issues, fortunately the team has been allowed to play for the coming season. But right now the sky is grey above them. The only good news is they might be capable to retain Datome (mainly because he enjoys life in Rome, hehe), although he'll be asked to cut part of his salary. The only other guy who's under contract is Gordic, who has good chances to remain since besides being quite young and talented he doesn't earn much, so they want him to stay. Oh wait, Crosariol is under contract too, but his wage is definitely too big for them, so he's expected to pack his bags and move asap.

As for Tucker, I'd say inconsistent just like the team. Slow start, very good midway through the season, but then again was quite disappointing down the final stretch. At 32 he's still classy and skilled offensively, but looks past his prime, I guess he will continue somewhere in one of the main leagues around the Continent for two more years or something, but I can't see him signing for a Euroleague team.

Still cloudy since Benetton left. A new project for the club has been arranged in a few days mainly through the work of former players like Pittis and Coldebella, some local entrepreneurs, and also through the fans' donations that reached almost 90.000 euros in less than 10 days.
They're waiting for the league's decision that should be taken by the end of the current week. They're not in a good situation but I hope they will be allowed to continue in Serie A, it's really one of the most historical and main teams in Italian basketball.

                      - It just had to be official, now it is, Georgian PF Viktor Sanikidze (Virtus Bologna) signed a 2 + 1 deal with Siena. He finished last season as the league's top rebounder (12 ppg + 10.9 rpg). Unics Kazan, Fenerbahce and Barcelona are trying to sign Bo McCalebb.

                      - Rok Stipcevic officially signed a 1+1 deal with Milano. Will be Omar Cook's backup.

                      - Several moves for Cantù. They signed a 2-yr deal with PG Jerry Smith (Springfield Armor) and just need to announce the signing of SG Pietro Aradori, who's about to leave Siena. They both will start for them, I just hope that Aradori finally has his breakout season. Cantù also agreed to terms with USA PF Alex Tyus (Maccabi Ashdod), who recently got an Israeli passport and comes off a goiod rookie season in Israel where he was named the league's 6th man of tghe year (12 ppg + 8.5 rebs). It seems he signed a 2-yr deal (will earn 260.000 dollars per season). The roster is almost done, they just need to sign a small forward, most likely a US player.

                      J.Smith - Tabu
                      Aradori - Mazzarino
                      SF - Markoishvili
                      Leunen - Tyus
                      Cusin - Scekic - Marconato

                      - Caserta signed Serbian PF Stevan Jelovac (Antalya) with a 2-yr deal. He averaged 11.8 ppg and 4.7 rpg with good % (60% 2p, 36% 3p, 83% ft) in just 16.5 minutes per game. They also agreed to terms with tiny PG Nic Wise, last season in France (15.1 ppg), with Le Havre.

                      - As anticipated some days ago, Reggio Emilia signed Andrea Cinciarini (2+1). Should be their starting PG.

                      - Avellino keeps negotiating with SG Dionte Christmas (AGOR Rethymno), while Brindisi is considering to bring back to Italy EJ Rowland (Unicaja Malaga), but it seems difficult both for the player's wage and for the fact that he appears close to sign with Croatian side Cedevita.

                      - Virtus Bologna is interested in PF Steven Smith (Panathinaikos).

                      - It seems that Panathinaikos is interested in Yakhouba Diawara, who signed with Venezia but he has an opt-out clause on his contract expiring on July 20.

Jerry Smith seems an interesting signing for Cantù, some D league and NBA experience but a rookie in Europe, so a little risky. Potentially the Aradori/ Mazzarino is really good though.

Milano look a little thin at SF, surprised they didn't go for Datome.

Weekend recap, lots of rumors but no signings in the last couple of days.

                          - Avellino should have given up on signing Dionte Christmas, who's been impressive in the Summer League and may now be out of reach for them. So the news is they're close to ink Dwight Hardy, top scorer and MVP of LegaDue with Pistoia. Marques Green-Dwight Hardy would be an exciting couple, no doubts. Besides him, they're also considering to bring back veteran Panamanian G/F Chris Warren (Cedevita) and appear to be interested in SG Alan Voskuil (Piacenza; has a Danish passport) and PF Tadija Dragicevic (Biella).

                          - Biella is interested in PG Dwight Buycks, but it is rumored that also Casale Monferrato is after him. Biella is also considering to offer a contract to British C Matthew Bryan-Amaning, who comes off a very good rookie season in Turkey.

                          - Varese has made an offer to C Shawn James (Maccabi Tel Aviv), they're now waiting for a decision. Currently Mike Green (Barcellona PdG) remains their first choice for the PG spot but he's demanding for too much money. They're also interested in Greek PF Dusan Sakota, last season in Belgium (Oostende) and Russia (Enisey).

                          - Siena is considering several options inside. They're trying to see whether K.Lavrinovic wants to stay, meanwhile they are also considering Milan Maçvan and Lazar Hayward.

                          - Jumaine Jones said he's willing to wait for an offer from Pesaro, as he would like to stay there. Don't know if they have enough money to convince him, though.

                          - If Diawara opts out and goes to Panathinaikos, Venezia could make an offer to Luigi Datome (Roma).

MTA has an option for Shawn James (untill tomorrow), and will keep him, so it looks like that Varese has no chance to sign him.
                            2022/2023:
                            PG: Brown, D-BA, Ziv
                            SG: Baldwin, Hollins
                            SF: Hillard, Pnini, Menco
                            PF: Martin, Colson, Cohen
                            PF: Nebo, Poyters, Sorkin

Yes. It seems Maccabi is going to confirm him. Varese is now eyeing another guy who played in Israel, Bryant Dunston, he accepted the offer (225.000 dollars/1 yr) but it is rumored he's close to sign with the Nets, so I guess they will have to move their target again.

A couple of nice picks for Brindisi, that officially signed Jeff Viggiano (11.4 ppg last season with Treviso) and Robert Fultz (9.2 ppg with Teramo). Well, Viggiano will start at the SF spot, while Fultz will be the backup PG.

As anticipated a few days ago, Varese officially signed Greek PF Dusan Sakota (10.4 ppg with Oostende) and agreed to terms with PF/C Bryant Dunston (Hapoel Holon; 14-5 ppg. 9 rpg, 1.8 bpg), who should be announced soon, unless he gets signed by the Nets. Mike Green (Barcellona PdG) should be next, as the starting PG, though it's rumored that also Reggio Emilia might be interested in him.

Roma agreed to terms with Bobby Jones (Pistoia), who should be announced soon. A talented player with some character issues that prevented him from having an impact in his previous stints in Serie A (Teramo, Montegranaro), he eventually went playing in LegaDue, where he had a couple of stellar campaigns with Forlì (which he single-handedly led to an improbable permanence in LegaDue in 2010-2011) and with Pistoia (which he led to the finals), establishing himself as one of the most versatile players and possibly the best defender in the league. Will he finally prove his skills in Serie A?

Siena is very interested in Josh Akognon. With his Nigerian passport he would play as a Cotonou-player and this would be very helpful. They're still considering a bunch of other players in different positions like Lazar Hayward, Milan Maçvan and Dionte Christmas.

Avellino is rumored to be in talks with veteran PF Dijon Thompson (Asvel), though they're meanwhile trying to keep negotiating with Tadija Dragicevic.

Besides Dwight Buycks, Biella is very interested in Russell Robinson (Trabzonspor), who is rumored to be the main candidate for the PG spot. As for the frontcourt they're considering rookies Julian Mavunga (Miami OH) - who is a Cotonou player - and Kyle O'Quinn (Norfolk State).
