Venezia is a good team but they also are battling with injuries (Keydren Clark just came back after an injury and apparently he's still hurt, Zoroski is out and Fantoni is done for the season) and have a couple of players (Hubalek, Clemente) to put into their system. They're very unpredictable, they won against Siena and Milano and finally managed to build a winning streak but unexpectedly they just lost at home to Avellino and this should kick them out of Italian Cup. In order to qualify they need to win at Varese (they miss three players, two of them - Ere and Banks - are key contributors) that is still unbeaten at home and Milano must lose at Brindisi (they will miss 6th man Klaudio Ndoja, which is a tough loss to them). In my opinion Varese remains the favourite but Venezia can beat them, just don't trust them too much, as you've seen they're very inconsistent.

    • Right, but usually Venezia play better matches with better opponents so I try +9.5hcp on Venezia

And what do you think about Avellino(-4.5)?

First part of the regular season came to an end.
First home loss for top-ranked Varese, still battling with injuries (Banks, Ere, Cerella all out), amazing blowout for Siena, completely thrashed at Sassari in the game between 2nd ranked teams. Milano was about to wreck one more game, after blowing away a 17-pt lead, but in the end managed to win and clinched a berth for the Italian Cup.

        The games will be:
        (1) Varese - (8) Milano
        (2) Sassari - (7) Brindisi
        (3) Siena - (6) Reggio Emilia
        (4) Cantù - (5) Roma

Not great news for Varese, to be at the top and get Milano (they will host Italian Cup) as their opponents, also it's the first time ever that both the newly promoted teams (Reggio Emilia, Brindisi) manage to qualify for this trophy.

Milano officially brought back PF Leon Radosevic, who was on loan at Lietuvos Rytas.

Jarrius Jackson officially got an Italian passport and Cremona just signed American PG Brian Chase.

Biella parted ways with Serbian shooter Nemanja Jaramaz, should also release Linos Chrysikopoulos and Russell Robinson, they added veteran guard Dimitrios Tsaldaris and are expected to sign a PF.

Interesting, they're a good team, it's surprising they're struggling so bad, definitely they're better than Montegranaro.
Avellino just fired their coach and hired Cesare Pancotto, I expect him to give the team a boost so I'd go with Avellino.

Interesting round. Varese got back on track after the disappointing loss in Italian Cup final with a huge performance by Bryant Dunston (39 ranking) to thrash poor Virtus Bologna, but Sassari is still there after rolling all over Venezia. It's the third time in the last 4 games they managed to score over 100 pts.
Right after its terrible home showing in the Italian Cup, Milano kept the momentum in the league with a good W in Roma mainly thanks to an amazing performance by Fotsis (yes, he's alive), to keep climbing the standings...yet Roma was missing its star Gigi Datome, who got hurt in the Italian Cup and long-time injured Ade Dagunduro; 4th straight road loss for Siena, so we can say it's official news they are paying big time their EL efforts. Also Cantù is still struggling since Markoishvili's departure (very little impact on the team by Mancinelli, except for his debut game), they fell on the road at Brindisi.

At the bottom, key wins for Pesaro, Avellino and Montegranaro, Biella remains alone at the last place and with a difficult financial situation is now the main candidate to the relegation.

Rok Stipcevic equalized Walter Magnifico's franchise-record of 19 free-throws hit in a single game, just 2 free throws shy from the league's all-time record of 21 owned by Carlton Myers and Sasha Djordjevic.

Another notable performance by Travis Diener, who set a new personal record with 14 assists in a single game. Previously he managed to dish 12 assists in a game 5 times.

Also, Greg Brunner set a career-high for points scored (26) in a single game.

With his 5/5 from the 3-pt arc, Antonis Fotsis matched the season's best made by Michele Antonutti (Reggio Emilia).

Roma signed rookie guard Faisal Aden (Washington State), as a replacement for injured Ade Dagunduro. He will play with a Cotonou-status since he has dual citizenship (USA/Somali). Recently he has set the record for most points scored in a single game with his national team (59 in a game in which Somalia lost to Rwanda). He signed a 1+1 contract.

Avellino looking for a big man to replace injured Linton Johnson, who's expected to miss most of the games remaining. Will probably add an experienced big man from LegaDue (Brandon Brown?).
