Archbishop Carroll's Derrick Jones (ESPNU #22) has committed to UNLV. Let me tell you, I bet our local Big 5 schools (Villanova, St Joe's, Temple) are pissed they didn't get him seeing as he's the best recruit out of this area this year. I don't watch high school basketball so I couldn't tell you how good he is but he's from Philly so you know he can ball. Seems skinny though, and the Catholic League is not on the level of the public league in Philadelphia, not even close really. There are some really good teams though (Neumann-Goretti, Roman, St. Joe's Prep, at times Bonner) and the other schools are improving as more ballers who would've played in Philly move or go to Catholic school. Still, it's not anywhere near elite competition so it's not like the kid is coming out of one of the gauntlet type of East Coast public leagues.

This kid should be one to watch though. Being the best player to come out of the Philly metro is a big deal. As long as he doesn't let his cockiness or an attitude get the best of him (watch the clip of him committing and you'll see what I mean), he'll probably be a player to watch this year for sure.

Naismith Trophy All-American full list here.

Interesting the rise of FSU signee Dwayne Bacon to the top, he was ranked around #40 before the season started.

PF Cheick Diallo (undecided) had another great performance in a post-season game, as he was named co-MVP at the Jordan Brand Classic game, sharing the honors with Allonzo Trier (Arizona).

West edged East 118-116, with Trier scoring 26 pts on 8/10 FG, while East's Diallo finished with 26 pts (12/16 FG shooting) and 11 reb.

PoY Ben Simmons dnp, Jaylen Brown, Harry Ellenson and Luke Kennard sat out.

Diallo was named MVP at the recent McDon's All-American game as well.
