BURANOVSKIYE BABUSHKI - "Party for Everybody"
A group made up of 6 elderly women inviting you to "Party for everybody - Come on and dance - Boom Boom" LOL

The band consists of eight grandmothers, but when appearing in Eurovision only six are allowed to appear on stage. They are originally from the Udmurt Republic, from the village of Buranovo. The band performs most of their songs in the Udmurt language. Their other recorded songs include,"Yesterday" (The Beatles cover), ,"Hotel California (Eagles cover)", "Zvezda Po Imeni Solnce" ("A Star Called Sun"),"I Am Beautiful","Sneg-Sneznok","Chiborio","Babushki-Starushki".

They are mainly in their seventies. They evn have one who is 86, but she will not go to Eurovision as they allow only 6 and the band has 8 members. So she was left out.

Very weak Russian NF. Saw it live and there was not a single song, which sounded decent. Lot of unknown bands/singers and favorites of it Bilan/Volkova with Timati/Aida didn't impress at all, especially the latter, who had a song written by Timbaland crew, but it sucked sooo bad. Karina with Chingkong (or smth) - "High up" was my favorite, but obviously it had none chances to win it.
However, glad for Babushkas, atleast it was funny and interesting

Btw, tonight Swedish finals. If Loreen will win it, Sweden so far would have by far the best song in ESC

Loreen is already #1 on Swedish Official Chart "Sverigetopplistan" even before the finals. David Saucedo is #3 as well. So apparently it is between these two.

So Loreen took it. Watched the final yesterday live, interesting show, interesting voting with international jury from 11 countries having 50% of votes. It was close race between her and Danny, but Loreen won both - jury votes and televoting. Now Sweden is surely my favorite

Yes, the foreign jury has a say because in Eurovision, you cannot vote for your own country and other countries will vote for you, for their opinion conyts. Of the 11 country juries 6 juries gave her full 12 points and 3 gave her 10 points. It was only British and Belgian juries that gave it 6 points. These juries opted for Danny Saucedo.

Maltese jury picked the Swedish David Lindgren for "Shout It Out" that came third after Loreen and Danny Saucedo.

A favourite of the international jury was also the young and clearly very talented Ulrik Munther with "Soldiers" Munther was my favourite as well... He came fourth overall.

Its official. Armenia has withdrawn from Eurovision in Baku because of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan about Nagorno Karabakh, the Armenian enclave republic (in Azerbaijan).

Armenians argued that there were no security guarantees for the protection of the Armenian delegation.

What was the final straw was the declaration of President of Azerbaijan Haydar Aliev on February 28 just 2 weeks from deadline that "Azerbaijan's main enemies are Armenians of the world".

Armenian Television that organizes the Armenian entry said it could not send participants explaining: "with regret we announce that the Armenian Public TV Company cannot send a delegation for participation in “Eurovision” to the capital of Azerbaijan Baku in May 2012. Even though Azerbaijani authorities promised to guarantee security for all participating countries, days ago the president of Azerbaijan “made an exception” for one of those countries, by announcing that Azerbaijan’s primary enemies are Armenians throughout the world. Factually we can note that the president of the country hosting “Eurovision” officially announces that all Armenians, including the ones that would have been enrolled in the “Eurovision” delegation, are enemies of Azerbaijan. Hence, there is no logic to send a participant to a country, where he/she will be greeted as an enemy. This is a matter of principle for us. We are certain that the atmosphere, which has developed in the background of this and other anti Armenian rhetoric and actions, cannot provide equal conditions for all singers participating in “Eurovision”, which, in our understanding, is the main component of the contest. Furthermore we will continue taking part in “Eurovision”, and presenting Armenia at this pan European song contest.
