First the Mexican team was told it could not participate due to legal problems, then it was allowed to save the tournament. Now FIBA is saying if Mexican Olympic Committe does not recognize Mexican Association it cannot participate and tournament would be eliminated. Its just a mess, Mexico embarrasing itself once again.

Coming SOLUTION for PAN AMERICAN BASKETBALL

Mexico City .- The non-participation of the Mexican team basketball in the XVI Pan American Games 2011, is a serious concern for the Olympics and sports authorities of the country, which occur very significantly affect young athletes who have prepared to compete Olympic event in America's most important.

In meeting with the President of PASO, Mr. Mario Vazquez Rana, Mr. Felipe Muñoz Kapamas, president of the Mexican Olympic Committee, and the teacher Bernardo de la Garza, Director General of the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sport, requested the intervention Don Mario Vazquez Rana to find a solution, just and reasonable, in this long conflict that has hurt Mexican basketball.

PASO President Mario Vazquez Rana, has decided to intervene in the subject covered in Article XXII PASO Statute, chapter, 10, which states: "In case of conflict between a National Federation, National Olympic Committee and Federation International, the PASO Executive Committee, a proposal by the Technical Committee may decide on the registration of athletes at the Pan American Games, with all the obligations and privileges, thus ensuring adequate protection and guarantee the rights of athletes " .

PASO necessary urgency and exercise the power conferred by the Statute and Rules of the Games, to prevent being affected the interests of athletes. To conduct, practice the registration process of the basketball team at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, PASO has appointed a Commission which will be chaired by Mr. Carlos Padilla Becerra, Permanent Member of the Mexican Olympic Committee. The commission shall adopt the necessary measures to immediately fulfill the mandate that has been assigned.

PASO President Mario Vazquez Rana, is convinced that the decision will benefit the athletes, which is the reason why there are the Pan American Games will also help to lift the quality of the Games and allow Mexico, its status as host country, participate in basketball competitions during the Games in Guadalajara.
