Since I am a Filipino. It is natural for me to root and cheer for the Philippines. This game could go down the wire. Close one.

    UAE will win over Bahrain.

I think Toroman will gauge this game to see how good China is, that means Toroman will play possum and go all out when the games matter the most.

philippines will just try to hang on with the chinese and will take it from there in the last minutes of the game..i don't see Philippines being in the driver seat in this game especially that our team is still stregthening our chemistry..but this game should make our team better (hopefully injury free), regardless of winning it or losing it..

I believe the Phils can finally win here in China against their hometeam!
Not only does God play dice, but sometimes he throws the dice where we can’t see them.

    Interesting match-up

6'3 Liu Wei vs 5'9 Casio
6'9 Sun Yue vs 5'10 Tiu

I dont think we are not that undersized.

for sure alapag will have a mismatch here.

they will have to double team him coz he could drive or shoot the three on this guy who will try to guard him.

I think the chinese will have their way against the pinoys, no offense to our fellow pinoy posters, but i've seen you play UAE,score aside,i expected a better basketball level from your side, and it's gona take alot more than that to beat the complete chinese team.
I believe you have your chances against Iran,Lebanon and Korea but China will come on to you with height and skill and it's gona be a very tough game.
still i wont rule out a possible philipino upset but the way i see things, it'll be an easy game for china but definetly not a blowout.
i experct a 15- win or 10- smt like that.

yup i agree with you. If only Phil can limit their turnovers below 7 i think they can keep up with China and it will be a competitive game. But anything is possible (imagine Garnett saying that )

In your Qatari lineup, you only posted 7 players. But now for Gilas, you included Marcio and Lutz.... Does it mean they are now cleared to play? That's great news if true!

No offense man, China team almost oversized Philly on every position. I mean, the rebounds and defense will be the key. Philly get a chance, but really not that much as China

Moying Martelino, the Philippine Olympic Committee official designated to submit required documents for the SMART-Gilas Pilipinas national team participating in the ongoing FIBA Asia Championship, said on Thursday that there is still a chance for wingmen Chris Lutz and Marcio Lassiter to see action in the Olympic qualifying tournament.

“They’re not disqualified to play,” said Martelino, who once served as secretary-general of FIBA Asia. “They’re only not allowed to play until after they’ve submitted documents to prove that they’re Filipino.”

On Wednesday, FIBA Asia deputy secretary-general Hagop Khajirian raised questions about the eligibility of the two Filipino-American players. Minutes before the Philippine team’s opening match against the United Arab Emirates the next day, SMART-Gilas were still unable to get clearance for the two stalwarts, forcing the squad to play with just ten men.

The contention over the eligibility of Lassiter and Lutz came as a surprise to the team and to the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, the country’s national basketball federation.

Martelino said that there has been a misunderstanding on the part of FIBA Asia about the status of the two players.

“I think the confusion lies on the Article 321 of FIBA, which refers to players who were naturalized as in the case of Marcus Douthit,” said Martelino. “But Lassiter and Lutz are natural-born Filipinos and we will present this stand to FIBA Asia.”

“We will meet with Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas executive director Sonny Barrios [on Friday] and send to FIBA Asia our position,” he added. SMART-Gilas hopes to have the two players available when they face Asian powerhouse China in the second day of competition.
