ARG – Peñarol brace for Hernández exit
MAR DEL PLATA (Liga Nacional/FIBA Americas League) - Sergio Hernández left his post as Argentina’s national team boss after the 2010 FIBA World Championship and now it seems he is preparing to call it quits as the coach of Peñarol Mar del Plata, too.
Peñarol president Domingo Robles said to the Olé newspaper: "There are few possibilities that he continues.
"It's going to be very difficult to replace him for what he has given us in these four years.
"It would be great if he stayed at the club and it would be fantastic if he left with an incredible offer.
"He will always have the door open here."
Hernández has led Peñarol to a pair of FIBA Americas League titles and he also just steered the club to its fifth Argentina league championship.
Puerto Rico contacted Hernández’s agent recently about their vacant national team coaching post but the 47-year-old declined the invitation to interview.
