Here in Italy we still suffer for the loss of these young and promising players:
- Davide Ancillotto (1974-1997)
One of the purest talent ever born in Italy... 6-8 SG with amazing offensive talent. He was playing in a friendly match in 1997 when accused a probably cerebral hemorrhage and was hospitalized. He died some days ago.
His pro teams: Caserta, Madigan Pistoia, Virtus Roma
- Enrico Ravaglia (1976-1999)
Nicknamed "Chicco", he was one of the most promising young point guards in Italy. He died in 1999 December 23th in a car accident, while coming back to home after a 23 points performance against Reggio Emilia.
His pro teams: Virtus Bologna, Pallacanestro Varese, Pallacanestro Cantù
- Paolo Barlera (1982-2009)
Considered one of the top prospect of his generation and possibly the top at center position (7-1 feet tall). Diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease (Lymphoma) in the 2000. He fought strongly, coming back to basketball court in 2002... Never fully recovered, Paolo finally died in 2009.
