It seems that their contract terms are different. Iziane Castro's contract has to be renewed and she prefers to keep herself available for WNBA until the end of the playoffs.

Castro declared she would be ready to play for Brazil at the Pan Am games, after the WNBA playoffs.

Jamaica win a bit surprising imo, in a hard fought game with Mexico.
Caribbeans got a big scoring effort by Vanessa Gidden (29pts) while 37y old 6-5 center Simone Edwards scored a double-double (13+12).

In the game of the day, Brazil defeated Canada 56-39 (23-20) thanks to a big defensive effort and a huge Q3 (23-9). U19 World championships MVP Damiris Dantas (Br) was the best scorer with 13pts (and 11reb). Miranda Ayim was the only Canadian scoring in double digit (10).

Colombia lost to Puerto Rico 46-68 and Argentina easily outscored Chile 80-50.

Canada is up 40-16 near the half vs. Paraguay. Looks like there are less than 100 people at the game.

                  Paraguay 71 Jamaica 69

Amazing, and yet not totally surprising. Paraguay hit 13 threes.

Paraguay-Jamaica was the upset of the day. Jamaica now needs a win with Canada in the last prelimin game to reach the semis.

In another near-upset, Argentina beat Cuba and secured a place in the semis (together with undefeated Brazil).

It's amazing that Jamaica has only made 4 3-pointers in three games and all four are by Nicole Louden. Of course, most of their offense is inside with Vanessa Gidden and Edwards.

Last prelim games with no surprises and the four semi finalists will be:

                        Argentina - Canada

                        Brazil - Cuba

Argentina and Brazil are the only undefeated teams.

Nations ranked 2-4 will have again a chance in the Qualifying tournament.

In a repeat of the FIBA Americas Men's championship, Brazil and surprising Argentina will play for the gold medal game.

Canada and Cuba will battle for the third place.
