The Asian Youth competitions began in 1970, featuring players aged 19 and below. This was conceptualized as a way of preparing the young players for international competitions once they suit up their men's basketball team in the future. The AY tournament is held bienially, or every two years, hence, this happens on the even-numbered years. The Philippines has won six stagings of the Asian Youth (now called FIBA-Asia Under-19) - the first five from 1970 to 1978, lost it to China in 1980, and regained it in 1982. We never won from thereon as this tournament has been dominated by China.
Let's start with the 1970 team.
