Hey Carlo, do you know why a few of the other top rated guys in the 2013 class aren't on this team? Do they miss the birthday cutoff I'm guessing? In particular Julius Randle and Nerlens Noel.

Yes, I too guess they aren't age eligible, though I don't have their exact bios.
Other two 2013 class missing big names are A&A Harrison, while a highly ranked center, Kennedy Meeks, was in the very first Developmental Team of 2010, so his absence this year isn't due to his age.
Anyway, I'm sure that several age eligible 2013 top players are missing just because they weren't available or they were simply left out by USAB.
On the "new" additions, Justise Winslow is actually a come back, as he was already listed in the 2010 Developmental Team roster.

Don Showalter was named co-Developmental Coach of the Year, sharing the recognition with Jill Rankin Schneider, for the excellent results achieved by the U16 USA teams in the 2011 Fiba Americas qualifiers.

Looks promising, based on the 2015 Top 25 ESPN ranking, out of 24 players (obviously excluding #1 Karl Towns) 18 have been called to the new developmental team.

Here is my take for the U16 Team if it were up to me to select the players of the team's composition.

    CKR13's Team

    Perimeter

    Derryck Thornton
    Jayson Tatum
    Malik Newman
    Joshua Langford
    Eric Davis
    Bryant Crawford
    Harry Giles
    Josh Jackson
    VJ King

    Post:

    Daniel Giddens
    Ivan Rabb
    Diamond Stone

In case of injuries incurred, I would tap either Malik Monk and Henry Ellenson.

Interesting, but not easy to choose on paper, it looks anyway that post or big players are several and at very high level. Jessie Govan and Stephen Zimmerman are other highly ranked bigs.

Edit: Just adding some easy ranking refs, by ESPN 2015 class and by Prospect Central 2015 and 2016 .

Most of these boys are of course still unknown, but some of them look big to the specialized press:

    2015 Class
Ivan Rabb PF 6-9, #1 ESPN, Prospect Central and Rivals
    Diamond Stone, C 6-10, #2 ESPN, #3 PCentral, #4 Rivals
Malik Newman, SG 6-4, #4 ESPN and PCentral, #3 Rivals
Thomas Bryant, PF 6-9, #3 ESPN, #7 PCentral, #14 Rivals
Eric Davis, SG 6-3, #10 ESPN, #18 PCentral, #25 Rivals
    Daniel Giddens, C/F 6-10, #19 ESPN, #10 PCentral, #7 Rivals

    2016 Class
VJ King, SF 6-6, #4 Prospect Central (only ranking)
    Joshua Langford, SG 6-5, #5
    Josh Jackson, SF 6-6, #6
    Tyus Battle, SG/SF, 6-5, #8
    Jayson Tatum, SG/SF, 6-6, #9
Edrice Adebayo, PF 6-8, #11 (19.8rpg and 4.3bspg based on MaxPreps stats)
    Seventh Woods, PG 6-2, #12

All players are in MaxPreps' watch lists.

It just seems that valuable PGs are lacking, but someone unknown could maybe shine at the trials.

The 16 finalists were announced today and that roster will be quite simple the most natural talented and breathtaking ever assembeld in 35 years of international junior competion, You have the next great cant miss prospect in Harry Giles, the big wings like VJ King, Jayson Tatum and Josh Jackson who are all franchise types, or the bigs like Ivan Rabb and Diamond Stone who are only scratching their potential. You can talk about the best pure scorer and playmaker on the team Malik Newman or about the most unique talent in Seventh Woods (think Westbrook or Rose who can pass and shoot). This team is based on a very good HS class of 2015 and a class of 2016 which will be the best class since the most exceptional class ever, the class of 1979.

Slight change on the rosters that will train Oct 5-6.

U16 Edrice Adebayo won't attend, while 6-11 Myles Turner was added to the pool of U17/18 players (14 athletes now).
