  • So, how did FIBA got to the current rankings using the new system? Did they calculate all the way back from 2010 or did they just calculate everything from 2016?

The Philippines did drop 3 places, but it's still pretty high to me considering there are 149 countries to rank now compared to only 91 some time ago.

I like the new ranking system overall, the rankings will become more accurate over time.

    • New ranking. US actually lost points since it looks like World Cup 2010 no longer counts.

It seems the gulf between the US and Spain should be wider following 2016. I have to admit, I'm not familiar with the latest points system, but if Spain is given more deference because it's played more international games (2015 & 2017 Euros), than the system is skewed more towards participation than actual titles won.

Gap shrunk because the 2010 FIBA world championship is not counted in the cycle anymore.

              • Would anybody have the capacity to give a comprehension on how these rankings work? I expect it has something to do with the latest 20 years or something like that, similar to the football. To be totally frank, no offense Stuart anyway I don't confide in the US should be No - 1

How is possible that Greece (656) is only 5 point below Serbia (661)?

The new FIBA rankings doesn't take into account the position of each team. It's actually an eight year circle of results. Each year FIBA removes results from a previous year in order to add the new ones. This time the results of 2010 have been removed ( i also think that the same happened with 2011 but i am not sure).

Greece had almost the same results in these years (2010 and 2019). In this years World Cup both team lost two games. Both team lost one game from a higher ranking team(Spain and USA). Both teams lost one game from a lower ranking team (Argentina and Brazil), but Greece lost only by one point. This counts also. Finally Greece faced four teams that ranked in top 30, Serbia played against Philippines and Angola. Although Serbia crushed them both they collect lesser points than Greece's victory over Montenegro by 25.

I think more or less that's how the new system Ranking works.

P.S. Australia beat teams that were above them at Ranking. This helped Australia to climb in Rankings. In Olympic's draw it's quite possible that USA, Spain and Australia will be at pot 1.

The 2017 blockbuster Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle followed four kids, Spencer (Alex Wolff), Bethany (Madison Iseman), Fridge (Ser'Darius Blain) and Martha (Morgan Turner) who get sucked into the video game world of Jumanji during detention.
In the game, they become new avatars, with Spencer known a Smolder Bravestone (Dwayne Johnson), Bethany as Professor Shelly Oberon (Jack Black), Fridge as Mouse Finbar (Kevin Hart) and Martha as Ruby Roundhouse (Karen Gillan).

At the end of the movie, the game was destroyed so no one would get back, but it was revealed in the first trailer released in July that Spencer fixed the game and went back into Jumanji. Watch Jumanji The Next Level Full Movie

The malfunctioning game sucks them back into the system, but also brings Eddie and Milo along for the ride.

Now Johnson's Smolder Bravestone is Eddie's avatar, with Hart's Mouse Finbar as Milo and Black's Shelly Oberon as Fridge's avatar this time, with Martha remaining as Gillan's Ruby Roundhouse, as they team up to find Spencer.

Awkwafina has also joined the cast as an unspecified new avatar in the Jumanji world, along with Dania Ramirez and Ashley Scott.

Sony Pictures has set a December 13 release date for Jumanji: The Next Level, going up against the horror film Black Christmas.

How FIBA is counting is mystery to me.Why Greece is still nr. 7? Greece NT didnt made a single semifinal , no medals , missed last 2 olympics in last 8years fiba are counting.Lithuania nr. 8 in rankings won 2 medals, 3 semifinal, qualified to both Olympics in last 8 years.

Lithuania NT took better places in 2011,2012,2013,2014,2015,2016,2019 over Greece NT.

Greece took better place only in 2017 .

It must be related to youth results or something ,because there is no ground for Greece men NT be higher than Lithuania men NT.

You should get more familiar with the new ranking formula. It is not just about placement in a competition, it is now more about who you beat, where you beat them (home, away, neutral floor), by how much, in what level competition (WC, Olys, Qualifiers, Regional Tournaments) and when. They are really dropping the weighting of late years results too - so even if the results from 2011 or 2012 are included in the formula they matter far less than the most recent results.

Beating teams ranked ahead of you gets a nice bonus kicker - who has Lithuania beaten ranked ahead of them in the last 2-3 years? Greece split with Serbia in the WC Qualifiers - that win for a lower ranked Greece mattered more in the point formula than higher ranked Serbia beating Greece

It is a mathematical formula that you could re-create in Excel to verify if you really wanted. No manipulation of results going on and has nothing to do with youth results.

                            Here are the details:

                            • Another thing to note is where you place in a tournament is no longer relevant to FIBA rankings. It’s all about who you beat (where they are ranked), when (time decay), where (home, away, neutral), how (how many points victory) and what (what level of tournament -WC, Olympics, regional, qualfiers etc).
