Default one of the most covered Asian songs

In 1977 Japanese diva Miyuki Nakajima wrote this song "Rouge" for fellow singer Naomi Chiaki, later covering it herself. In 1992, a young Faye Wong covered it in Cantonese under the title "Fragile Woman", and in the following years the song became a major regional hit, particularly in Vietnam and Thailand. Reportedly there is also a Hindi version but I can't find it.

    The Originals:

The first English version was Jessica Jay's in 1993 -- "Broken Hearted Woman" -- which helped spread the song in S/E Asia and sold millions copies. But the question emerges: who the hell is Jessica Jay? Some say she's Italian, some think she's Russian, some claim she's Filipino, and some think she's a robot. See this interesting blog, which also mentions this song -- "Song of The Year in 1993":
    http://www.imaginaryplanet.net/weblo...re-here-maybe/

The accent in the song is fairly noticeable, but I'm not able to identify it. I think she's S/E Asian, but not necessarily Filipino. To me it's clearly a cover of Faye Wong's 1992 chart-topping Canto-pop version given the similar title and year, which means the singer must have listened to Hong Kong music, and I'm not sure too many Euro-singers do that at that pre-digital age.

Speaking of Faye Wong, see today's Washington Post (also mentioning this song as "Easily-Hurt Woman"). The Diva is back! (shed tears)

"Ambitions", original by Norwegian band Donkeyboy, and a massive hit in Norway and Sweden I dare say

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_WQ6u9os50

An alternative video version by Donkeyboy

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8ek0Q24-oE

    --

Cover by Joe McElderry (X Factor 2009 UK winner)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThaHfqpyQhI

It is a cheeky version by Joe McElderry, as Donkeyboy portrays in their alternative version about ambitions and what happens at talent competitions, and McElderry is exactly one such hopeful with the only difference that he won... singing "And I keep telling my reflection / Ambitions are already starting to fade" taking shots at his own self plus he sings courageously "If it's me that was going to take it /then I know that it wouldn't be straight" because actually he declared he was gay LOL

I just loved the way Joe McElderry gave his oiwn "twist" to the meaning. Now that's clever. The lyrics

    Now, I can't behave
I feel it in my feet on the streets
    But don't you know?
There's something I can feel when I breathe

    I told you once
    You're breaking into separate parts
    But don't you know?
    It's something that I can't live without

And if somebody's going to make it
Then this somebody ought to be you
And I keep telling my reflection
Ambitions are already starting to fade

    I can't tolerate
The feelings that I feel when I feel
    But don't you know?
Some feelings never seem to let go

    Like a silverblade
I cut my way out of control
    But don't you know?
Some blades will cut you right to the bone

And if somebody's going to make it
then this somebody ought to be you
And if somebody's going to fake it
then this somebody, somebody is you
If it's me that was going to take it
then I know that it wouldn't be straight
And I keep telling my reflection
Ambitions are already starting to fade

    I Can't tolerate...
    (Can't tolerate)
    I Can't tolerate...
    (Can't tolerate)
