Default RP-Gilas in the Boris Stankovic Cup in Lebanon -aug 7 to 15

1.) Are import players allowed in this tournament ? if not will Douhit be naturalized in time for this tournament ? assuming we get lucky with him finally
2.) Are 15 man teams allowed like in Jones cup? or just 12 man teams?

Its fiba sanctioned tourney for national teams absolutely we need to naturalize our "imaginary/fantasy" naturalized player by then

second its a tourney not an invitaional 70-80% the 12 man to play still exist here

if we fail to finish on top 5? we're out?
or you mean after finishing top 5 we are automatically seaded?

That will be in terms of the lottery in securing a bracket...
You know how to WIN against the Philippines? Zone them do death and watch them crumble. Been working Since 2002 and coaches until today don't have the answer for it.

What?? Then we wouldn't need the Qualifiers for that..
Philippines is in National Team transition mode.

if we make the top 5 or whatever number of slots needed for FIBA Asia, the benefactors would be the 3rd place SEABA team. it's actually good for Smart Gilas/Team Pilipinas because that's instantly one (or two) less team to worry about.

yup, we won't need the SEABA qualifiers if ever we finish 5th. 3 ASEAN teams in the FIBA Asia.

if we fail to finish on top 5? we're out?

if we fail to finish top 5, we still have the SEABA Qualifiers.

Ok ok.. A top 5 finish would be a dauting task.. But achievable..

    I tell you, it's achievable.

So far only us,the Uzbeks, Lebanon(hosts),
Palestine(just heard of this), Iraq, Iran (B team) and Syria(U23), . they qualified for the Stankovic Cup because there are four WABA slots.

. Not sure about the Oriental Teams. Japan, Taiwan and Korea would pose to be Ali Peek in the doorway.

Jordan and Iran-A withdrew due to the World Championships.
does this mean that Jordan, Iran and probably Lebanon(unless they get to host the 2011 event which would be unfair considering that they will host the Stankovic Cup) will have to qualify via WABA-Championships in order to qualify.

is this another WABA-tourney in the making? ^_^
Works for us if it is. No Eastern Teams, less competition.

    Intereesting scenario this means

we have 6 confirmed teams 4 WABA and 1 SEABA

    1 for the host

we will surely see at least 2 from the gulf (UAE and qatar)

1 from south asia (India or kazakhstan)

and 3 for east asia (I am half sure that taiwan japan and korea will bite into this because taiwan almost did not make it to fiba asia last year because of not participating in this ___) surely hong kong will try

unfortunately no fiba pts will gain here the tournament that fiba gives bearing are the world cup, olympic games, the zone qualifiers(asia, europe) and
the 2 junior world championships remember not the zone that give Phil the 4th placer in last u16 no credit in fiba ranks. But being in top 5 of this tourney means at least .3 points in fiba ranking because they have the ticket for 2011 qualifiers

I never see why Jordan would not participate in this tournament. It is the perfect culminating tournament before the worlds

i think our performance in this Stankovic Cup will depend on how well they do at the Manila Invitationals against Jordan and the Jones Cup against Lebanon, Japan, and Iran's second team without a naturalized player and Williams.

if they can beat those teams, there's no reason why they can't finish 5th or higher. not that i'd want to see 1 more SEABA team in FIBA Asia, but it potentially means 1 less WABA or East Asian team.

I think Banchero may join not less than the Asian Games in november due to his school commitment.

The Stankovic Cup will run smack in the UAAP calendar. That means NO Ricardo Cawaling and NO Aldrech Ramos.

That would be a bummer.. It's like Dubai and Doha combined.. Dubai - no Ramos, Doha - no Cawaling..

    So let's do the math: Dubai=3rd, Doha=7th
    Get the mean: Beirut=5th!
    FIBA Asia Slot! HAHA.. Aww..

Well we all want them to achieve higher than that.. HAHA

And no Magi King Sison either. Looks like Rabeh will be plugged into the lineup.
    Keep running, big boy.
