I don't know what to suggest as name.Do we even know its gender?

No my friend, the kind of this cat is called ''Van Kedisi'' ''Turkish Van Cat'', Van is a city in Turkey and kedisi means cat.

It's not suffering from anything it's the way it is in real life as i had one long time ago, one eye blue the other green, they are pretty beatifull and cute.

And also the evil eye bead is a pretty nice touch as we used in our culture a lot.

It is good idea for using "Van Kedisi" in mascot. But i think it could be better.

So what special powers does this celebrity cat have? The blue eye is supposed to fend off the evil eye while the green eye attracts all the female kitties

I like cats, but this mascot seems more appropriate for women tournaments.

Did Lithuanian women team have something like that?

I like cats too and the mascot as well. It's a symbol of Turkey, the combination of colours is good, design too, and cats have actually much to do with basketball. They are fast, agile, capable of jumping real high, unpredictable, etc, just like a good basketball player should be

So Bascat it is... I like it.

FIBA – Winners of mascot-naming competition revealed

ISTANBUL (2010 FIBA World Championship) - A total of 39 fans who will receive incredible prizes after voting for the winning name in the 2010 FIBA World Championship mascot-naming competition have been chosen.

Four fans will get the privilege of taking home an official Turkish national team uniform and also enjoy the incredible opportunity of having dinner with the players during their training camp.

In addition, five fans won group game tickets for 2010 FIBA World Championship, while 10 more will receive an official Championship t-shirt each and an additional 20 will get mascot gift packages.

I thought I'd share this with u guys

This is a video of the crazy cat mascot "Bascat" dancing around the arena
I realized that this Bascat was way more entertaining and lively than the one in Istanbul.
(I blame the Spanish fans who sat in front of me as well as the ones that were trying to pass behind me for the quality of this video )

I don't follow the logic behind using a cat as the mascot. Maybe it's just me, but it just doesn't seem right.
