JV doesn't have that kind of IQ and skills as Sabas had, so he needs certain environment to dominate. While I recently followed a lot of NBA, I've noticed things which I don't see in Europe, how they use different plays to set a post player, look at 0:30 in this video what kind of smart tricks they do for D-Mo - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvGftuPY-Bc, or this example how JV can get the ball deep in the paint at 0;57 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQ9LyQ2SxO8. Not that NT didn't try or didn't have plays for bigs, actually Kazlauskas emphasized that quite strongly in 2013, specially plays for Kleiza, but it didn't work that well for some reasons. I just think Lith NT school doesn't really know yet how to play that kind of a basketball, we are famous with shooting, pick and roll, kickouts. Post game is something really new for us. We never had great post players, Sabonis wasn't exactly a post player either. Einikis is probably a best post player we had in 90's, that's pretty much it. In 00's Šaras once said (2008 if I'm not mistaken), Šiškauskas is our best post player...JV, D-MO, Sabonis open completely new page.

Yet again, JV was out of shape, he was missing bunnies, he was slow, rusty. What that has to do with the team, it's all on you. You blame your self if you miss layups, easy buckets.
well, if our basketball philosophy is just to rain threes, do kick - outs and run p'n'r to death, then we don't even need a single post player on the team. Just simply take 40 years old Javtokas, who only knows how to set hard picks, and we are good to go with our "sexy" offense In all seriousness, it's baffling how a supposed basketball nation can't even figure out how to use post players to their full potential. It's even more baffling when those post players are the hands down the best players on the team as well..

Injury is not reasonale - it's no questions. Reasonable - it's if you think it would be better to get more rest after season, then to train individually and be more ready and fresh next season. IMO that would help Seibutis for example and helped Lekavicius (not his decision though).

When he starts doing that, you know the atmosphere within the team is shit...no wonder we looked and played miserably. I mostly blame the coach here anyway, so I'm with you on this

Youre wrong. Why are you trying to blame guards, Coach, nation and everyone else except JV himself? He was not ready mentally, nor physically. After good playoffs he came to the games thinking that he will just continue to roll good. Unfortunatly he strugled from game one and he let himself to get Down mentaly. He was shadow of himself. He was missing shots he ussualy makes and even the best guards in the world would not make those shots for him. Yes Our system is not Perfect , we dont have good guards according to you, but that doest mean shit because it was JV's fault. Yes you read it right, it was JV's fault.

            • How Valanciunas played in Olympics is firstly on him ! Such level nba player even if nobody passes him the ball at all (that wasnt the case) SHoULD haVE GRAB REBOUNDS and score like he does on raptors all the time.In OLYMPICS I SAW NO PASSION,NO defence,No rebounds no nothing from JOnas...Valanciunas was hole in our defence.Under Kazlauskas in 2014 and 2015 he played well and after one year Kazlauskas become idiot and didnt know how use Valanciunas? that wasnt the case.Top 10 nba center have no right to play like that in most important tournament and thats ON HIM! ONLY ON HIM.

I was angry at him for not fighting and not showing character at all in entire Olympics.True stars do not act like that.Everybody knows when ship in sinking all fingers will be put on coach and leader.Kazlauskas made mistakes preparing team,Valanciunas played very badly and our ship sanked...

But that was one tournament and it ended as it ended.Learn from mistakes and return stronger.

              • In first 3 games JV is averaging 14FGA and makes half of that. 18pts, 12rebounds. I think he can even shoot slightly above 50%, but generally that's should be his numbers of the season, IMO. If Raptors will continue with this kind of usage (32min, 14FGA per game), he can more or less maintain than kind of productivity. That's what I wanted to see and JV's proving he can deal with increased role so far.

                • Well, in last interview with JV he sounded a bit pissed regarding NT talk. It's hard to judge that from the text, maybe simply laconic:

Were you surprised that Kazlauskas left the position of the head coach?

Nor surprised, nor otherwise. It's his decision. He knows what's best for him. We'll see how it will work.

How much you're familiar with new coach Adomaitis?

-Not much, there hasn't been any ties. I follow basketball news, LKL, Euroleague, Lithuanian teams, but Adomaitis is not my buddy.

Will you play for the NT in EB?

-We'll see. It's too far away now. The season is long, anything can happen.

                    • Yeah, I guess. But he didn't want to analyse anything regarding OG just saying "it's all over now" and giving very short answers. He must be unpleased with his performance I'm pretty sure.

Of course he knows he had crappy tournament, what to analyse there As any human bein' after some failure, he just tries to forget it and move on. Shit happens, just sad that it happened on the biggest tournament possible. However, if not JV in 2015, maybe we wouldn't be there at all, so let's move on . What's more worryin' that after good start of the season, again his performances goes to wrong direction, but I'm not big NBA fan and just checking stats, so maybe nothing too serious

                        • I watched 3 games this season of Jonas. After 1st game fantastic performace (againt pistons again btw like always ) he is not looking as good as last year.I believe he is in some kind slump, you can see from his body language,he is playing because this is his job,but no energy, no entusiasm no more.Maybe he played too much basketball in last 6 years, played everywhere he even possible could. Also maybe right now he has some psichology problems after bad summer. But Valanciunas of 2016 Playoofs and Valanciunas now its not same for unknown reasons.

                          • I think JV will be traded soon. He has not lived up to his potential, he does not look hungry anymore. Coach dont like him. Raptors want to contend and they need some defensive presence under the basket to do it. Jv is not the answer and at the same time he his. He is their biggest trade asset.

                              • Can we officially declare that Raptors almost completely fucked Jonas identity as a player? I mean he came to the league being compared even to Pau Gasol, was one of the best rolling bigs I ever seen, very agile for his great size. Now he's slow, unmotivated and seems like Raptors just give up on him, using as matchup center, better not being used at all if possible. It's obvious it's not the career Jonas and Raptors wanted. That's what happens when you end up in shitty organisation. From an agile big with great motor - to unmotivated, underused slow center:
